Viral Video of the Day: David De Gea Scores Free Kick in Spain Olympic Training
David De Gea already had plenty going for him.
De Gea, a 21-year-old goalkeeper, plays for Manchester United and Spain. His WAG is, uh, mildly attractive. And he looks, well, sort of like a llama.
Alas, goalscoring generally has not been considered a forte for the Spanish goalkeeper. Until now.

After spending a month watching Iker Casillas do his thing for the senior side at Euro 2012, De Gea could get his chance later this month (and next) at the Olympics in London.
As part of his preparations, De Gea is apparently learning to take free kicks. Don't question it. Just go with it.
De Gea's free-kick abilities are the subject of today's B/R Viral Video of the Day. Starting around the 0:26 mark of the clip, we see De Gea taking a couple shots on goal via free kick-esque situations in training.
The first flies way over the bar. (Hey! So did most of Cristiano Ronaldo's at Euro 2012!) The second, however, sails into the side netting at the far post, past a despairing stand-in keeper.
Impressive, no? But we already knew goalkeepers have skills, right?
Well, let me be the first to point out that there was no wall in place. At this distance—just outside the 18-yard box—one would normally expect to find a five- or six-man wall as protection for the keeper.
De Gea didn't have to deal with a wall. But he can only score from the scenarios that are set in front of him.
All in all, I'm impressed. What about you, readers?
By the way, Spain's Olympic fixture list begins July 26 against Japan at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland. Honduras and Morocco round out Group D.
