NBA Rumors: Mavericks Must Pursue Aaron Brooks for Scoring Depth
The Dallas Mavericks must pursue a scoring guard like Aaron Brooks in free agency after recent departures have left them with little depth in the backcourt.
According to Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld, the Mavericks could be an option for the 27-year-old guard.
"The Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Aaron Brooks, according to sources.

The guards currently on the Mavericks roster are Vince Carter, Rodrigue Beaubois, Jared Cunningham and Dominique Jones. That's a weak group of guards, and not the kind of talent that gets a team deep into the playoffs.
Brooks would bring some impressive athleticism and reliable scoring to the Mavericks as a starter. He's also quite familiar with the Western Conference because of his time spent with the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets.
The Mavericks need to give Dirk Nowitzki some more offensive help because head coach Rick Carlisle can't rely on the German star to carry the scoring burden almost by himself at age 34 years old.
Brooks can score by attacking the rim or shooting from the outside. He's versatile offensively and is the best remaining option at point guard for the Mavericks in free agency.
Dallas has not had much success finding guards in free agency this summer, and can't afford to lose Brooks to another team.
Signing Brooks is an absolute no-brainer for the Mavericks.
