5 Wrestlers That We May Never See in the WWE Hall of Fame
On the heels of Bruno Sammartino's 2013 Hall of Fame nod and later rejection, I got to thinking about some other stars that may never make it in.
First, let me say, I don't fault Sammartino for turning down the WWE's offer. However, there is no doubt that WWE fans would absolutely pop for Sammartino's long overdue induction.
Now onto the topic at hand, all of the wrestlers featured in this article have wowed us with their amazing in-ring work or promos. Each are deserving of this honor, however, due to legal or personal issues, these performers may never grace the WWE Hall of Fame.
In the end, whether they make it in, one thing is certain: They gave their all and became the best at their profession, and that can never be taken away.
With that said, please take the time to fully read the article before commenting as you may find some of your points mentioned in the article. Otherwise, enjoy and feel free to weigh in with your comments below.
Chris Benoit
1 of 5I know, I know this is a sticky subject, but the fact is there is no way Benoit will ever be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Yes, he had an amazing in-ring career, but you can't change the fact that he wiped out his family.
Overall, Benoit will be forever romanticized by fans, who remember him as "The Rabid Wolverine" and not the killer he turned out to be.
Sting
2 of 5There is no doubt Sting belongs in the Hall of Fame; however, he doesn't belong in the WWE's version.
Keep in mind, the WWE has been courting Sting since WCW's demise in 2001.
So, for well over 10 years Sting has found some reason not to head to the world's largest wrestling promotion.
Personally, I do not fault him for his decision, as he has built an amazing career without the WWE machine behind him.
In the end, if Sting never sets foot in a WWE ring, he should not be inducted into their prestigious hall.
Randy Savage
3 of 5"Macho Man" Randy Savage is by far one of the best former WWE wrestlers to not be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Sadly, while he was alive, he and Vince McMahon allegedly had some undisclosed beef, which locked Savage out of any WWE product.
That was until 2010, when the WWE released a new Macho Man action figure. The best part was, the legend not only agreed to be a part of the launch, but also cut a promo to help build it up.
After that partnership, Savage appeared in several other WWE licensed properties, and it seemed like a sure-fire bet that he would finally be inducted into the hallowed hall.
Unfortunately, it never came to fruition.
Then, tragedy struck during the summer of 2011 and fans lost Savage forever. Since his death, his brother Lanny Poffo has been vocal about Savage's wish to have The Poffo family inducted and not Savage alone.
Unfortunately, Lanny and his father's career pale in comparison to Savage's as neither really had what could be considered a Hall of Fame career.
So, if Poffo never wavers, there is a good chance Savage will never be inducted to any Hall of Fame let alone WWE's.
Ultimate Warrior
4 of 5The Ultimate Warrior was a phenom that helped fuel the WWE's popularity during the late '80s early '90s.
Granted, Warrior may have only had a short career with the WWE, but there is not doubt that he left his mark.
Over the years, both wrestlers and the WWE have been critical about Warrior's WWE tenure. So much so, that the WWE felt the need to release a DVD titled The Self-Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior.
The film gave an overview of Warrior's WWE career and mocked his title reign, ring work and promos.
Warrior was none to pleased about this release and eventually filed suit against the WWE claiming:
"Mental duress and breach of contract, Warrior claims that the video violates a March 2000 settlement where both parties agreed not to disparage each other in the future, and that McMahon intentionally released the video to discredit him.
"
Since then, the two side have found some common ground as Warrior is now featured in the opening promo for Raw.
In the end, these two parties may never see eye to eye and the Warrior's Hall of Fame nod could permanently be shelved.
Owen Hart
5 of 5Owen Hart will go down in history as one of the biggest stars to never win the WWE title.
Hart was an amazing performer and not only knew how to win, but also knew when to step back and put guys over to help the business.
Sadly, Hart met his demise as The Blue Blazer, during WWE's Over the Edge pay-per-view.
Hart was supposed to come "flying" down from the rafters and land safely in the ring.
Unfortunately, his harness was not rigged properly and he fell approximately 78 feet to his death.
Since this event, Hart's wife has been involved in several lawsuits with the WWE. Most recently, she has set a precedent disallowing the WWE to use his likeness for any WWE properties.
Essentially, Hart will never be featured in a WWE documentary production piece, video game or action figure.
Needless to say, if nothing changes, he will also never be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
