Gymnastics Olympic Trials 2012 Results: Alicia Sacramone and Other Tough Cuts
Alicia Sacramone performed admirably at the U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Trials, but she will not be making the trip to London for to participate in her second Olympics.
She is not the only excellent gymnast to be left off this deep and talented team. We'll highlight the closest of those misses in this slideshow, but first, in case you missed it, check out the fortunate five that will make up this talented team.
The official Twitter account for the U.S. Olympic team tweeted out the five women who will be making the trip to London.
"Presenting your 2012 @USAGym #Olympic women's team: Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, and Kyla Ross! #TeamUSA

Alicia Sacramone
1 of 4At 24, and just a year after tearing her Achilles tendon, Alicia Sacramone faced an uphill battle to make this team.
She competed in just two events, the vault and the balance beam, but she looked strong and healthy while doing so.
She posted a score of 15.7 in the vault and 15 on the beam in the preliminaries, and she improved on that in the finals with scores of 15.8 and 15.15. This left the committee with a tough decision, especially considering that Sacramone was the lone 2008 Beijing holdover with a shot of making the team, but ultimately, they passed on her.
Sarah Finnegan
2 of 4Sarah Finnegan had a strong showing at the trials. She stumbled during her floor routine on Friday, but came back strong. She finished first on the balance beam in the preliminaries, and carried that over to a solid finals.
She finished sixth in the overall competition and won over the crowd in the process. Still, this wasn't quite enough for the selection committee.
It was, however, good enough to have her named as an alternate.
Anna Li
3 of 4Anna Li really shouldn't be a near-miss. She is older, 23, and bigger than the typical gymnast. She also, after an injury, had two pins put in her foot last October.
These obstacles weren't enough to keep her from wowing crowds in the uneven bars on Friday, when she posted the best score for this event, and on Sunday.
She competed in just that event and the balance beam, and finished with a total score of 58.65, which was good for 12th place overall. While she is not one of the select five, her performance was impressive enough to have her named as an alternate.
Elizabeth Price
4 of 4Elizabeth Price has more room to complain over her exclusion from the five-women team than any other competitor.
She finished with the fourth best all-around score, and yet, she is relegated to replacement status.
Price was in fantastic form at the trials. She had a career-best 16.05 on the vault on Friday, and on Sunday she sparkled in the floor exercise (14.95) and uneven bars (15.3).
