Bradley Beal: Highlighting Best Landing Spots for Florida Star
Bradley Beal is going to be a star in the NBA no matter what city he's playing in.
With that being said, the former Florida standout has the ability to become a star even more quickly if he finds himself in the right situation.
Beal just looks the part of an NBA shooting guard. He may lack ideal height at just under 6'5" in shoes, but his 6'8" wingspan and rock-hard 202-pound body will quell any of those height concerns.
Height aside, everything looks good for the soon-to-be 19-year-old. Even though he struggled with consistency from beyond the arc at Florida, he has the feathery stroke and perfect mechanics that will translate to the next level and make him a dead-eye shooter after more repetition.
Add the shooting stroke to his ability to penetrate with ease, run the fast break and play the passing lanes effectively on defense, and Beal looks like a dream two-way shooting guard for most teams.
Nonetheless, his consistency problems would be helped by having a pass-first point guard and established scorer around him.
Beal is likely to go No. 3 to the Washington Wizards, but taking into account the teams picking two through five, let's take a look at the best fit for the former Gator.
3. Charlotte Bobcats
While Kemba Walker is certainly on his way up in this league, he doesn't yet compare to the other teams' point guards on this list.
But the worst thing about Beal potentially landing in Charlotte is that there won't be many options around him—and the one option plays the same position as him.
Gerald Henderson turned out to be the Bobcats' best scoring threat last year, but he's a shooting guard and likely wouldn't see much time on the court at the same time as Beal. That means Beal would have a lot of pressure on him to score right away, and that's not a good way for a young rookie to develop.
This situation just doesn't make a ton of sense all around, but the Bobcats do trump the Kings on this list because Sacramento has an influx of scoring guards. Until they get rid of Tyreke Evans or Marcus Thornton, there just isn't much room for Beal.
2. Cleveland Cavaliers
No. 1 and 2 on this list are close, so take the actual rankings with a grain of salt.
Putting Beal next to Kyrie Irving would give the Cavs a backcourt capable of dominating the NBA for a long, long time.
Of course, Irving isn't necessarily a pass-first point guard, but he still has solid vision and would help take the defensive pressure away from Beal.
The Cavs don't have a lot of other options on the wing, so Beal could step in right away and pair up with Irving. This would be a win-win for both sides.
1. Washington Wizards
It's pretty clear the Wizards won't be passing up Beal if he makes it to No. 3, and it's not hard to see why.
Pairing the young shooting guard with John Wall and Washington's fast-paced tempo would be a deadly combination. With Wall drawing multiple defenders on the break, Beal could spot up on the outside and see open three-pointers all game long.
But while Irving and Wall would both benefit Beal in different ways, the Wizards have the added benefit of surrounding him with more help. Trevor Ariza is a solid outside shooter and Nene can provide some decent offense in the low post.
Beal would still likely step in as the No. 2 option, but he would have more options to help carry the load in Washington, especially during the expected off nights. The former Gator looks like a perfect fit with the Wizards, who are a shooting guard away from having a formidable starting five.
Don't expect him to fall past the third pick on draft night.
