WWE No Way Out 2012: John Cena Win over Big Show Is Inevitable

Andrew KulhaJun 2, 2018

There is absolutely no way that John Cena loses to the Big Show at WWE's No Way Out pay-per-view. It's a lock—put it in stone and call yo momma—because this thing is about as predictable as they come.

Most of us—unfortunately not all of us—realize that the WWE is a giant show. It's a soap opera, a television series or a very good novel, and that's why we like it.

Donald Wood, resident Bleacher Report WWE writer and host of Ring Rust Radio, once told me that watching the WWE is like watching theater. The superstars put on an act and really the only difference is that instead of watching it from a stuffy auditorium, you can watch it at home on the couch.

The faces win over the crowd by being the good guys, playing the hero routine and ultimately just being awesome. The heels fight dirty, taunt the crowd, beat up on the faces at all costs and believe that they are the best thing to ever happen to the WWE.

In between those two extremes are a plethora of characters ranging from midcard entertainers like Brodus Clay to the current tag team champions Kofi Kingston and R-Truth.

It's modern day Shakespeare.

The WWE is the perfect blend of entertainment and storytelling where characters mean everything, but that's where they give themselves away with No Way Out.

Like it or not, Cena is the face of the company. Sure, the purists and old-school fans are sick of him being pushed down their throats, but one would be naive to act as if he's not the biggest draw to the "outside world" the WWE has.

Which current wrestler outside of Cena does the average person associate with the WWE? If we're not counting The Rock, which we aren't, the answer to that question is a resounding nobody.

Unless you're tuning in each an every Monday, Friday and pay-per-view, chances are you don't really know who CM Punk, Sheamus or Daniel Bryan are, and you certainly don't appreciate their talent.

The stipulation for this No Way Out Steel Cage Match is that someone is going to be fired. WWE CEO Vince McMahon said that he would fire John Laurinaitis if Big Show lost to Cena.

On the other hand, Big Johnny said he would fire Cena if Cena punched him on SmackDown, which he of course did. If Show wins, Big Johnny will still have a job, thus he would still have the power to can Cena.

To simplify it: Either Laurinaitis or Cena goes. Which storyline do you think the WWE is going to go with?

Good theater is about good characters, and that's what makes the WWE so successful. Unfortunately, baring a huge loophole that I don't see, it also gives away the storyline for the main event at No Way Out.

A Cena win is inevitable.
