Liverpool Transfer News: Tracking Latest Rumors, Updates
With summer now upon us, eyes will start turning to who will be heading in and out of the Premier League during the transfer window.
One of the most interesting teams to watch will be Liverpool under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Following last season, when Kenny Dalglish spent big on homegrown talent who failed to deliver, how will Rodgers approach his first transfer window with the club?
Here are the latest players rumoured to be heading in and out of the doors at Anfield.
Who would you like to see playing in red next season? Who do you think should be shown the door?
Comment below.
In: Salomon Kalou
1 of 6With the departure of Dirk Kuyt to Fenerbahçe last month, Salomon Kalou would appear to be the perfect replacement for the Dutchman at Anfield.
His versatility could come in handy. He can play in any position in a front three and knows exactly where the goal is. After a fairly indifferent spell with Chelsea, Kalou still has something to prove in the Premier League and Liverpool could be the perfect club to do it with.
On a free transfer, the rewards far outweigh the potential risks. Liverpool should see Kalou as a top priority.
In: Cristian Tello
2 of 6According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool would reportedly have to shell out £7 million to bring in young Barcelona striker Christian Tello this summer.
The 20-year-old Spaniard is out of a contract next summer, so his club are willing to listen to offers.
Tello has made a solid start to his Barcelona career, scoring seven goals in 22 games for the Catalan giants. The Spanish youth international has good pace and likes to drift out to the wings to find the ball.
Overall, he looks to be a very similar player to Luis Suarez, and it is hard to see where he would fit into a team also containing the Uruguayan. Liverpool would be better off looking at other options in a team that has many needs.
In: Milos Krasic
3 of 6Juventus winger Milos Krasic has been linked with a move to the Premier League for years, and now could be the perfect time for the Serbian international to make that switch.
Krasic played just seven times last season with the Serie A champions, and is reportedly available for £6 million, per the Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old offers great pace down the right-hand side and is excellent with the ball at his feet. His final delivery can be inconsistent at times, and it is this inconsistency that has caused him to fall down the pecking order at Juve.
In his first season with the Italian giants, Krasic scored six times and supplied six assists. If he can recreate that form, it would do wonders for a Liverpool team who were woeful on the flanks last season.
In: Gylfi Sigurdsson
4 of 6The most likely new addition to the Liverpool squad is Icelandic international Gylfi Sigurdsson. The 22-year-old was a revelation for Rodgers' Swansea team last season and the new manager is keen to work with him again.
The signing of Sigurdsson could pose problems for Rodgers, and how he will set up Liverpool's midfield next season. Having Steven Gerrard and Sigurdsson in the same team would raise questions about the balance of the Anfield midfield.
In: Gaston Ramirez
5 of 6Another midfielder that has been linked with a move to the Reds is Bologna star Gaston Ramirez.
According to The Independent, that the playmaker could be available for a fee of around £20 million.
Like Sigurdsson, Ramirez is very much an attacking option in the centre of the park. It would be interesting to see how Liverpool's midfield would shape up with him in the mix.
Ramirez had an impressive campaign with Bologna last year, scoring eight goals with four assists to help the club to a ninth-place finish in the league.
Liverpool look set to face a tough fight if they want to sign the Uruguayan. A host of clubs, including Manchester City and Juventus, have also been linked to Ramirez
Out: Alberto Aquilani
6 of 6As one of the biggest transfer flops in recent years, it is no surprise to see Alberto Aquilani ready to leave the club this summer. The Italian has had a torrid time at Anfield, playing just 18 times for the club.
Meanwhile, despite spending time on loan in Italy with Juventus and AC Milan, Aquilani has not done enough to convince either team to take up the option to buy the player outright.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed the news last month (via ESPN): "We will not use our option to buy Aquilani before May 31. We will re-open talks with Liverpool in June, though."
According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan would prefer to extend Aquilani's loan deal for another season, while Liverpool want to get rid of him permanently.
This suggests that Milan is still the most likely landing spot for the Italian, but at a cut price. After paying almost £20 million for him in 2009, Aquilani looks to be one of the biggest flops in club history.
