USADA Files Formal Doping Charges Against Lance Armstrong
The world of cycling is about to be turned upside down.
According to the New York Daily News, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is in danger of getting his titles erased from the record books:
"#BREAKING: USADA brings formal doping charges against Lance Armstrong; could strip 7 Tour de France titles #BreakingNews

While nothing is official regarding the status of his titles, this is a significant step by the U.S. Anti-Doping Association and one that has the potential to shatter Armstrong’s legacy.
The retired cyclist has already issued a statement claiming his innocence (via The Washington Post):
"I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one.
"
The USADA is the agency in charge of anti-doping efforts within Olympic sports in the United States. It has the ability to hand out charges that potentially lead to suspension from competition and stripping of awards.
