Pacquiao vs. Bradley Round by Round: Pac-Man Takes Bradley's Hope in 8th Round
Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley have completed eight rounds in front of a packed MGM Grand.
So far, things in Las Vegas are as expected. Pac-Man is dominating Bradley with an array of dazzling flurries, stout defense and all-knowing experience.
Bradley isn't a bad fighter, but he is not suited to fight Pacquiao's style. Pac-Man is forcing Bradley to come after him, and this poses a problem for Bradley's limited power.
Early in the fight, Bradley appeared ready to go. He controlled the beginning of the first round, had his moments in Rounds 2 and 3 but has shriveled ever since.
As each round passes, Pacquiao's dominant skills become more and more obvious. He is driving Bradley backward, neutralizing his jab and forcing Bradley to go toe-to-toe.
If that doesn't change, Bradley doesn't have a prayer.
Coming into this WBO welterweight title bout, Bradley needed to maintain a defensive mindset. Trying to match Pacquaio's power was only going to end one way, and it wasn't going for anyone not named Manny.
Forcing Pac-Man to fight on his terms was Bradley's only hope, but Pacquiao has imposed his will.
Bradley has had his moments. All hope is not lost, but it is certainly bleak.
He must build on the marginal success he had at times in Round 8. He managed to turn the brawl into a boxing match, and that plays drastically to his advantage.
If you are in Bradley's corner you must impress the importance of ducking Pac-Man's left and jabbing your way inside.
Either do that or wind up on the wrong side of the scorecard.
