Jinkee Pacquiao: Strong Support of Husband Has Kept Pac-Man Focused on Boxing
The mental psyche of a boxer is one of his most important traits. If something is distracting a fighter while training for his next bout, his performance in the ring will suffer.
Manny Pacquiao used to be a partier. He got caught up in the lifestyle that comes with being arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
The drinking and the partying damaged his relationship with wife Jinkee last year, and his once strong marriage was severely damaged. She may have been ringside to watch her husband narrowly escape Juan Manuel Marquez, but her heart wasn’t completely in it.
Fast forward to today and things are much different.
Pac-Man has rededicated himself to his religion and has given up the drinking, gambling and partying. He has become a family man once again in an effort to save his marriage…and his boxing career.
It sounds like it worked as Jinkee reportedly joined him during his training last month and Manny’s morale was “greatly boosted” by her presence. This marked the first time in his career Jinkee has joined him as he trained in Los Angeles. This gives Pacquiao one less thing to worry about leading up to his big day.
His life with his wife is back on track and the only concern for him these days is attempting to improve his 15-bout winning streak to ensure a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather keeps its shining luster.
Who knows how strongly Pacquiao was affected by the troubles with his personal life last year, but there is no question he enters Saturday’s bout against Timothy Bradley in a far healthier state of mind than he was back in November.
Will this be enough to beat the 28-0 Desert Storm handily and regain the respect of the boxing world who believed he should have lost to Marquez?
