NBA Draft 2012: Players Who Will Destroy Their Stock at Combine
The 2012 NBA draft combine will take place Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8 this year.
Almost all of the top prospects have been invited and a majority of them will be participating in the drills, measurements and other tests that take place at the event.
You can view a full list of the participants right here.
Let’s take a look at some of the players that will hurt their stock this week and those that will have some more work to do leading up to the draft on June 28.
Damian Lillard
Lillard is a good shooter and that will help him at the combine, but he is a tweener that does not really have a defined position.
He does not project as a pure point guard and he is too small (measurements will show) to play the 2 with any regularity.
It will be interesting to see how his NBA career turns out, but he is likely to become an energy guy off the bench, which is not that great for a consensus lottery pick.
Moe Harkless
Harkless’ stock is through the roof right now because of his upside, but he is a terrible shooter and it will hurt him if he struggles in Chicago this week.
He has to work on his jumper if he wants anyone to respect his ridiculous athleticism, as defenders will be comfortable sagging off and just playing the drive against him.
Tony Wroten
At 6’5”, Wroten has perfect size for an NBA point guard, but he does not have the leadership skills to play that role. He has got a terrible jumper, which means his ability to play shooting guard is almost non-existent.
When scouts and GMs see that ugly jump up close in a controlled environment, they are going to have second thoughts about taking him.
It is likely that Wroten falls into the 20s unless he improves drastically before the draft.
