Anthony Davis Wants to Shut Down Kobe Bryant
Anthony Davis has not played a single possession in the NBA, and the former University of Kentucky big man is already running his mouth.
During this morning's edition of "The Dan Patrick Show," Davis called out Kobe saying this: "If I stop him, I could be one of the guys that say, 'I shut Kobe down.'"
Whatever you say, Mr. Unibrow.
Davis could become one of the fastest developing centers that the sport has ever seen. He accomplished what he wanted to at Kentucky with a national championship and being one of five to declare for the NBA draft.
Now, he did make another bold prediction earlier this week, but this one was by happenstance.
Davis was seen wearing a Hornets snap-back, and coincidentally, the Hornets received the overall No. 1 pick last night in the lottery. Davis is likely to become the first overall pick in the draft.
If Davis was right about becoming a Hornet, could he really be right about shutting down Kobe?
Past centers have not been successful in this task.
Let's take a look at Magic center Dwight Howard. Numbers don't lie, but neither does this video where Kobe puts Howard on a poster.
Howard possesses many skills on the offensive end and is very athletic, but Davis is one of those players where he can change the entire schematic of a team.
But, come on, this is Kobe Bryant—one of the greatest guards to play basketball, who has accomplished so much in his career. Davis has not even come close to playing the same level of competition in the SEC that he will in the NBA. Kenny Boynton is no Kobe Bryant.
Also, why would Davis want to call out one of the greatest "assassins" in all of professional sports? Does he not know when Kobe receives a challenge, he lives, eats and breathes those who try to defy him?
Davis definitely has some big shoes to fill after calling out one of the game's best—even if he does become one of the best himself.
