WWE Smackdown Spoilers: Spoiler-Included Preview of This Week's Show (June 1)

Drake OzMay 31, 2012

It's really tough to be a WWE fan right now.

Things have been steadily going downhill since Extreme Rules, and neither Raw nor SmackDown has been particularly entertaining outside of the awesomeness between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

Still, I try to be as loyal of a fan as possible, and that means that I watch SmackDown each and every week.

But like many of you, I've gotta read the spoilers beforehand to at least know what I'm getting myself into.

So, if you need to take a look at the spoilers for tomorrow's edition of SmackDown, you're in the right place.

Here is my SPOILER-included analysis of the June 1st edition of Friday Night SmackDown, complete with a breakdown of three things I like and three things I dislike about them.

Full Spoilers

1 of 7

Here is the full set of spoilers for tomorrow's SmackDown episode, courtesy of Prowrestling.net:

Sheamus is out first to address World Hvt. Championship match with Alberto Del Rio at No Way Out. David Otunga came out to interrupt him. He set up a replay Sheamus bowling over John Laurinaitis when he ran out to help John Cena on Raw last week. He demanded an apology. Sheamus rebuffed him.

Alberto Del Rio came out to add his two cents. Otunga stated that Del Rio would be allowed to pick Sheamus's opponent for the night. Sheamus Brogue Kicked the hell out of Otunga. Del Rio bailed and Sheamus stood tall in the ring.

1. Sin Cara defeated Heath Slater. Sin Cara came out with new red and white ring attire and a new pyro set entrance but with the same strip club lighting. Sin Cara won with a tilt-a-whirl face buster on Slater. No botches except for a small awkward spot when his foot was caught under the rope.

There was hype for the WWE Championship match for later in the show.

Ezekiel Jackson still has a job, as he came out. Damien Sandow followed and took the mic for a promo. He blew off the match, but Zeke tossed him back in the ring and the match was underway.

2. Damien Sandow defeated Ezekiel Jackson. They traded offense and Sandow finished with his neckbreaker. He did a cartwheel in the ring.

There was a backstage segment between Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. Ziggler wanted to be Sheamus's opponent and got his wish. Ryback is up next. Joy.

3. Ryback beat two jobbers. The jobbers were billed as being from Alabama, so they chanted Roll Tide Roll. In Baton Rouge, that's the cheapest kind of heat. Ryback destroyed them with a double Muscle Buster and there were plenty of Goldberg chants.

Vickie Guerrero came out with Dolph Ziggler and vowed to end Sheamus tonight. At this point, all we've really gotten is matches and one backstage segment, so it will be a wrestling heavy show for Friday's television show or they'll tape other segments later and add them in. Sheamus came out to another massive pop. He's really over.

4. Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero). The action came at a decent pace with Ziggler hitting a top rope facebuster on Sheamus. Jack Swagger ran out to help Ziggler and messed him up. He ate a Brogue Kick to end the match. You'd think a cannon went off and shot Dolph with the way he sold it. Good match. The crowd was very into the match.

Darren Young and Titus O'Neil come out for a tag match. We get a backstage segment with Striker and Punk putting over the WWE Title match. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder came out. Hey, a Ryder sighting!!!

5. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder defeated Darren Young and Titus O'Neil. Santino got a roll up in less than two minutes. Big Show came out and tossed Marella into the WWE sign on the stage. Ryder got tossed around ringside as Titus and Darren exited the arena. Show took the bigger half of the ring steps up the ramp and slammed Ryder on them. Santino got the same treatment on the steps with a Camel Clutch. Show hit him with a WMD to massive heat. Show stared out at the crowd before leaving.

There was a backstage segment with Daniel Bryan telling A.J. that C.M. Punk is only using her.

6. Cody Rhodes defeated Tyson Kidd. Poor Tyson didn't even get a ring entrance for the live crowd. He deserves better. A nice fast paced match. Cody won in less than two minutes. Cody and Christian jawed for a minute after the match.

Kane was shown backstage and the WWE Championship match was up next.

7. C.M. Punk fought Kane to a DQ finish when Daniel Bryan interfered in a WWE Championship match. Slow and plodding at start. The crowd got into it toward the end. Daniel Bryan ran out. He's way over. Bryan attacked both men, and the red called the bell for a DQ finish. Kane ended up chokeslamming both men at the same time.

Big Johnny comes out and declared the WWE Championship match at No Way Out a Triple Threat match.

Bryan and punk were left in the ring with AJ. Bryan tried to get her to leave with him, but she left without either one of them. Bryan slapped Punk twice. Punk gave Bryan a GTS. The fans loved it.

Dislike: Too Many Squashes Again

2 of 7

They should start calling SmackDown "SquashDown" because the theme for the blue brand as of late has been at least one squash, but usually more, per show.

On tomorrow's episode, that trend is going to continue when we're set to get four matches that are basically squashes and another one that also lasts less than two minutes.

That's a little ridiculous.

There are seven matches on the show and more than half of them are meant to be quick victories to help get a superstar over.

We get it, WWE: You want to give debuting/returning/new superstars easy victories to make them look good.

You do realize there are other ways to make someone look good, though, right? Like perhaps, I don't know, putting them in a lengthy match instead.

Like: The Return of Sin Cara

3 of 7

Sin Cara didn't really develop a squeaky clean reputation prior to his injury.

He failed a Wellness test, was prone to botches and was an overall disappointment in the first six months of his WWE stint.

But Sin Cara still had his bright spots, and though I'm probably in the minority here, I'm actually excited to see him back in the WWE.

Despite all the setbacks, he was pretty over with the crowd, and when he was on point during his matches, he established himself as one of the most athletic and entertaining performers in the WWE.

While Sin Cara may never be a World title contender, he does bring something unique to the WWE and works very well as a midcard baby face.

It can never hurt to have a talented, over, midcard wrestler on a roster that needs as much depth as it can possibility get.

Dislike: The Big Show Dominating the WWE Roster

4 of 7

I'm glad that The Big Show turned heel because he's so much better in that role than he is as a cheesy, goofy baby face.

But the one fear I had about a Big Show heel turn was that it'd be accompanied by a major push that would take priority over just about anything else in the WWE.

As it turns out, that fear is already being realized.

So far, Big Show has destroyed John Cena, Alex Riley, Brodus Clay, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, and on tomorrow's SmackDown, he's set to dismantle Santino Marella and Zack Ryder.

That means that in the span of less than two weeks, Big Show will have easily laid a brutal beatdown on seven different superstars.

How much better would this storyline be if it was a young, dominant heel in this role instead of a 40-year-old vet?

At least in that case, it would help out the WWE's future.

But right now, overexposing Big Show throughout both Raw and SmackDown and having him embarrass a number of other WWE stars isn't doing anyone any favors.

Like: Giving Cody Rhodes a Win for a Change

5 of 7

It seems like Cody Rhodes rarely wins these days.

Since losing to Big Show at WrestleMania, he's lost about as much as anyone not named Zack Ryder or The Miz, and it's a shame to see the creative team do that to one of the WWE's most talented superstars.

I'm not sure what the motive behind Rhodes' recent struggles is, but it's clear that something has been going on that's prevented him from getting the booking he should be getting.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what that is, but perhaps Rhodes' win on tomorrow's SmackDown is a sign that he's headed back to where he belongs: at the top of the WWE.

Rhodes is one of the WWE's best young talents, someone who should be winning on a consistent basis.

Even though he's no longer the Intercontinental Champion, the WWE still needs to find a way to push the hell out of this guy.

Dislike: Kane Taking Part in a Triple Threat WWE Title Match at No Way Out

6 of 7

What's the deal with the WWE's obsession with putting Kane in feuds with its top stars?

First it was John Cena, then it was Randy Orton and now it's both Daniel Bryan and CM Punk.

Kane's feuds with Cena and Orton were both absolutely awful and only resulted in one good PPV match (Kane vs. Orton at Extreme Rules), and while his feud with Bryan and Punk hasn't been bad so far, I just don't see why it's necessary whatsoever.

I don't think there's anyone out there (outside of avid Kane fans) who really wants to see the Big Red Monster in the middle of a feud between the two hottest performers in the WWE.

Adding Kane to what should be a one-on-one WWE Championship match between Punk and Bryan at No Way Out is only going to hurt the quality of match.

I don't care if it's meant to somehow extend the Bryan/Punk feud. Kane's notorious for having awful feuds, and I know that, sooner or later, he'll screw this one up, too.

Like: The Gradual Progression of Dolph Ziggler's Split with Jack Swagger

7 of 7

Like many other wrestling fans, I've been hoping and praying that the WWE would split Dolph Ziggler away from Jack Swagger and Vickie Guerrero.

That split finally started on Monday's Raw when Ziggler walked out on Swagger after Swagger took another loss, and it's apparently going to continue on tomorrow's SmackDown when Swagger inadvertently costs Ziggler his match against Sheamus.

It's about damn time.

Ziggler has been held back big-time during his partnership with Swagger, and this breakup seems to be the start of something bigger for "The Showoff."

I'd fully expect him to drop Swagger soon and quickly work his way up the card to become one of the top heels in the WWE.

Ziggler definitely deserves it, too. He's waited long enough.
