Liverpool FC: Reds Deny Roberto Martinez Has Been Offered Manager Job
Liverpool has denied that Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has been offered the vacant managerial position at Anfield, according to The Mirror:
"Liverpool were last night mystified by Dave Whelan’s outlandish claims they have offered Roberto Martinez their manager’s job.
Anfield sources insist Martinez has not been offered the post and the Spaniard is no closer to being named as Kenny Dalglish’s successor.
Although principal owner John W Henry was understood to have been impressed with Martinez when they met in Miami on Thursday, he has not made a final decision.
"
Liverpool need to take their time and make sure they select the best manager, one that is capable of getting the Reds back to the top of the Premier League table and qualifying for the Champions League.

The Merseyside club cannot continue to take steps back when clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are getting stronger.
The Mirror also reports that Henry plans to consider other men for the job, such as former Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal.
Van Gaal would be a great hire for Liverpool because of the Dutchman's experience in developing young players and winning trophies.
Many Reds fans would also like to see Spanish manager Rafa Benitez return to Anfield, who of course managed the club for many years before his departure in 2010.
Benitez led Liverpool to the 2005 Champions League title and the 2006 FA Cup, and certainly knows the club well. It would be foolish for Henry not to consider bringing him back.
Martinez is a fine manager, but his inexperience at clubs with massive expectations like Liverpool is a real issue. He would be a risky hire for sure, and that's not what Liverpool need right now.
