Euro 2012: 7 Very Bold Predictions for Poland's Campaign
With just a day until Euro 2012 kicks off, it's time to take out the crystal ball and make some predictions about what we will see in Poland and Ukraine.
As hosts, Poland will be fighting for the honour of their home, and be endlessly supported by adoring fans.
Hence, it is unlikely that Poland will fail to show up for their matches come June.
However, do they have the power to make it past the first round?
Here is my forecast for the fate of Poland at Euro 2012.
Robert Lewandowski Has a Coming Out Party
1 of 7Robert Lewandowski, the 23-year-old striker for Borussia Dortmund, could not ask for a better stage to reveal that he is one of the greatest strikers in Europe.
However, he may have already proven so in scoring a hat trick for Dortmund in the German Cup final against Bayern Munich.
Expect great things from Lewandowski in this tournament.
Lewandowski Scores a Goal in Every Match
2 of 7Yep, he may be one of the only threats on Poland, but he is one lethal threat.
Lewandowski will score in every match in which he takes part in Euro 2012.
Poland Beats Greece 2-1
3 of 7With full knowledge that a win is a distinct possibility, Poland enter their first match in swashbuckling form.
After trading goals before halftime, a strike early in the second half gives Poland the perfect start to the tournament.
Poland and Russia Draw, 1-1
4 of 7A Lewandowski strike early into the match seems to send Poland through to the knockout stages.
However, an Andrey Arshavin goal near the end turns the match into a draw and sends Poland into the final set of matches yet to clinch a quarterfinal berth.
Poland and Czech Republic Also Draw, 1-1
5 of 7In the first fifteen minutes of the match, Poland find a goal through Robert Lewandowski and seem set on winning the group.
However, without needing a victory to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament, they become content to let the match peter out.
Hence, the Czechs find a goal late in the second half and the match ends in a draw.
Poland Finishes Second in Their Group
6 of 7A second place finish for Poland will be a great result in this tournament.
In any other tournament, progress from their group would be an unimaginable feat for Poland.
However, with Group A being so open, and home-field advantage on their side, Poland will find its way to the quarterfinals.
Poland Falls 4-1 to Germany
7 of 7For finishing second in their group, though, Poland are rewarded with a date with Germany.
In yet another major tournament, Poland meet their fate through the Germans.
After a convincing first-half drubbing, Lewandowski gets a consolation goal to make it 3-1.
However, another German goal makes it unassailable, and Poland are finished at Euro 2012.
The Polish crowds will hail their team's heart, but it will be a disappointing end to the tournament.
