College Football Recruiting 2013: 10 Recruits with Incredibly High Ceilings

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Mighty frequently you have and will continue to hear me use the term "high ceiling." It really means that a player has a lot of potential that needs to be coached out of them and refined.

For this read, I'm going give the 10 upper echelon recruits with the highest ceilings. These players have mass amounts of potential but are nowhere near being close to finished products.

Potential is dangerous in development, as sometimes it is realized and sometimes it just never fully comes out. Only time will tell with these 10 prospects.

10. Christian Hackenburg, QB

1 of 10

Hackenburg plays in a spread offense now, but he has all the tools that you want in a QB. He can drive the football downfield with velocity, flashes accuracy, stands 6'4", 215-pounds and good field vision.

He just need more reps and to get better in his mechanics working under center. Committed to Penn State, Bill O'brien will put him under center in Happy Valley some, and Hackenburg needs to work on his ball handling.

But his ceiling is high and he is the QB of the future of Nittany Lion football.

9. A'Shawn Robinson, DT/OL

2 of 10

Robinson is a 6'4", 305-pound monster who doesn't know what he will thrive at. He's big, strong, athletic for his size and quick.

I think the Texas commit wants to be a DT, but he could be a better OL in the long run. He needs to be coached up in the technique areas of the game and refine his awareness.

8. Kendell Beckwith, OLB/ATH

3 of 10

Beckwith is a Louisiana native who stands 6'3", 225-pounds. He plays QB in high school, but could develop into a DE, OLB, TE, RB or WR.

He's a great athlete and any team that gets him is getting a blank canvas. If he's allowed to develop at one position and coached up right, with his athleticism, he could be special.

He'll likely play in the SEC.

7. Kendall Fuller, CB

4 of 10

Fuller is also an excellent athlete who is gifted in everything. He's 6'0", 185-pounds, has great speed, easy agility, quickness, a burst, balance and leaping ability.

He will likely develop into a corner in college and has the potential to become a great man-to-man cover on the perimeter.

His technique is coming along and a full-time DB coach in college will likely polish him into a prime time shiner.

6. Montravius Adams, DT

5 of 10

Explosive at the snap, Adams really jumps blockers off the ball. The 6'3", 290-pounder is a DT prospect from Georgia that has one-gap skills.

He's a penetrator that jolts when the ball is snapped, has fiercely quick hands and flat-backs for leverage at times. Once he gets consistently better technique, a pass rush plan and better leverage, he will reach his ceiling.

If he achieves these, he will become a dominant college DT.

5. Robert Foster, WR

6 of 10

Foster is a 6'2", 190-pound WR with excellent speed and quickness. He's fluid in his route running and really doesn't need to slow down to get into a cut.

He can do everything needed at WR. It's just about improving his catch radius and getting consistent.

His ceiling is high and once his hands arrive to the point where his athleticism is, he has a chance to be a No. 1 WR in college.

4. Tyrone Swoopes, QB

7 of 10

Swoopes only has been a QB for a short time and his production of tossing for just over 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns last year isn't too impressive.

Yet, his size, arm strength, athleticism, speed and play making ability are all traits of a raw player that yearns to be coached up.

Once Bryan Harsin gets a hold of him full-time at Texas, expect all that potential Swoopes has to turn into production.

3. Stacy Coley, WR

8 of 10

Coley is a Florida native that goes 6'1", 175-pounds. He has it all athletically in speed, quickness, balance, play making ability and more.

He just needs to get consistent more and really work on refining his game. I doubt Coley even knows how good he can be but his ceiling is high and he could be star in college.

2. Ricky Seals-Jones, WR

9 of 10

Seals-Jones is a WR prospect but doesn't even play that position for his Texas high school team right now. He's employed as a QB and FS, but he'll be a pass catcher at Texas.

At 6'5" and 220 pounds, he's large man that has great athleticism. Getting him is like Michelangelo getting a slab of marble, as RS-J could become a masterpiece.

He'll need reps, refinement on route running and reading coverages from the WR position, but he flashes all the tools to be great.

1. Laremy Tunsil, OT

10 of 10

Tunsil hails from Florida and is the top OL prospect in the country. He is a 6'6", 295-pounder that has worked hard on bulking up this spring.

He needs to work on his strength and ability to hold up against power rushers and also his overall pass protection technique.

Yet he's a super athlete for a big man. He shows quick feet, adjustable ability and great balance. If coached up right, he could grow into an elite LT.
