Manchester United Transfer News: Why Lille's Eden Hazard Would Be Perfect
It's odd to think that a club like Manchester United, one that only failed to win the Premier League title this year because Manchester City had a better goal differential, could desperately use an influx of playmaking and goal-scoring ability.
But they could, and Lille's Eden Hazard would be the perfect solution to the problem.
If he wants to sign with the Red Devils, that is.

It would appear that he's has limited his choices to the two Manchester clubs and recent Champions League winners Chelsea, considered the favorites as they appear willing to spend the most to acquire Hazard's services.
From a football standpoint, however, Manchester United makes more sense. For one, he won't have to worry about sharing time on the pitch—his offensive punch and creativity will be needed, as only Wayne Rooney (with 27) and Javier Hernandez (with 10) scored double-digit goals this season.
They need a playmaker like Hazard quite badly, as Jamie Jackson of The Guardian pointed out:
"[Hazard's] abilities would also be welcomed by Sir Alex Ferguson as he looks to address a creative deficit in the central area of his side.
Beyond the metronomic abilities of Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes's ball retention and passing, United require the thrust and X-factor between the flanks missing since Cristiano Ronaldo was sold for £80m to Real Madrid three years ago.
"
He went on to add:
"[Hazard] operates primarily as a wide-man, whose jet-heeled pace allows him to cut inside to speed through midfield and defence. Ferguson already has Antonio Valencia and Nani motoring down the left and right corridors so his thinking, if he were to land Hazard, may be to eventually play him centrally, as the Scot did with Ronaldo.
"
Sure, the money might be better at Chelsea, where he would also likely be kept on the flank. Manchester City would likely utilize him to the outside as well.
But if you look at the following attack chart (kudos to Sam Cunningham and Dominic King at the Daily Mail for the chart), he's fully capable of attacking from anywhere on the field and could make the adjustment for United in the middle.
Will his scoring go down as he adjusts to Premier League play?
Likely.
But is he more likely to play a similar style to his idol Cristiano Ronaldo if he goes to Manchester United?
Absolutely.
Hazard on any of these squads is a frightening thought for the rest of the Premier League, no doubt. But for my money, the most Hazardous destination—sorry, I couldn't resist—would be Manchester United, where Sir Alex Ferguson will set him loose upon the league.
It's a scary thought, indeed.
