Norwich City: 11 Managers That Could Replace Paul Lambert
There is all sorts of speculation going around at the moment. Norwich City fans can not be sure if Paul Lambert will still be their manager next season. I would stress that this slideshow is not designed to suggest that Lambert is leaving.
It is purely to determine who the fans would want to replace him, if he were to leave. It can also open up a wider discussion on the sort of managers that would be interested in the Norwich City gig.
Now that Norwich City are in the Premier League, the pool may well be greater than some would imagine.
Ian Holloway
1 of 11Ian Holloway is certainly a likable character and many people were impressed with the way he took his Blackpool team to attack in the Premier League. However, he was unsuccessful and Blackpool were relegated.
So, has he learned any lessons? Due to this question, his appointment would be a significant risk.
But he would likely get more money to spend on transfers and wages at Norwich that could make all the difference.
Lee Clark
2 of 11I know a number of people were shocked when Lee Clark was sacked from his job at Huddersfield Town, especially given that they were well positioned in the league and had been on a long unbeaten run. Again, though, this would be a risk because there is a world of difference between managing in League One and the Premier League.
However, the Canaries have recruited a number of players from League One and the Championship that have proved to be up to the job in the Premier League. So why can't the same be true of lower-league managers?
Roberto Martinez
3 of 11Roberto Martinez may well become the new manager of Liverpool, but it appears that they could easily appoint someone else. However, after going to speak to Liverpool, it is difficult to see how Martinez can be accepted back into the Wigan job.
So, could Norwich offer an escape route? That would only be a discussion to have if the Norwich job becomes available.
Roberto Di Matteo
4 of 11Yes, he should be offered the Chelsea job, but nothing is guaranteed in football. So, if the job at Norwich opens up, it might just appeal to Di Matteo.
However, I would think that there would be other clubs willing to make an offer. But these may not come from the Premier League.
Malky Mackay
5 of 11Is the former Norwich City defender destined to be the Norwich City manager at some point. He has had a good education with Watford and Cardiff, so who knows.
Time will tell, but I would think Malky would be fairly high up the list of potentials.
Darren Huckerby
6 of 11Didn't see that one coming, did you? Well, like every other Norwich City fan, I am a big fan of Hucks. The man speaks a lot of sense, and I think he will be the Norwich City manager at some point.
We might prefer him to get some experience elsewhere first, but never say never in football.
Brian McDermott
7 of 11On the face of it, McDermott may seem to be unavailable. But with new foreign ownership at Reading, it is unknown if he will be in the job for long. If Norwich need a new manager, they may find that the Russian owner wants to bring his own man in anyway.
Never say never in football.
Chris Hughton
8 of 11Chris Hughton has done a decent job at Birmingham and Newcastle. And Norwich City could certainly do a lot worse.
I would think that Hughton would jump at the chance to manage in the Premier League, if the opportunity was to arise.
Gus Poyet
9 of 11The Brighton boss has done a good job so far in his career; I think he is destined for the top and would do a decent job in the Premier League.
Certainly one that is worth keeping an eye on, and if Lambert were to leave, I think he would be on the interview shortlist.
Chris Powell
10 of 11Chris Powell has had a superb season at Charlton Athletic. They won League One and are finally back in the Championship.
He is certainly a manager worth keeping an eye on, and he may well find a Premier League job in the offering before too long.
