WWE over the Limit 2012 Results: Play by Play of Sheamus's Win in Fatal 4 Way

Tom ClarkJun 1, 2018

The match began as expected, with all four men brawling in the ring. Sheamus paired up with Alberto Del Rio, and Randy Orton with Chris Jericho.

The expected matchup was Orton and Sheamus, mostly due to their confrontation on this past Friday Night SmackDown. Finally, after a few moments, this showdown occurred in the match.

Randy began taking the heat very early against Sheamus until Jericho capitalized and took the World Champion out of the equation.

Jericho and Del Rio did what two heels typically do in a bout of this sort—they began to work together against a common enemy. Orton began to take a beating at the hands of both men, until Del Rio focused his attack on Sheamus, and his “injured” shoulder.

Giving the champ a previous injury is a smart move, especially if he is a fan favorite. Sheamus was definitely on the defense as he favored his shoulder.

Jericho and Del Rio’s partnership did not last long, as is also typically the case when two heels unite against a common foe. Soon, both men realized that there could be only one man to leave as the champion, and they turned on each other.

Jericho and Orton worked together in the ring, causing flashbacks for many fans, as these two have had their problems in the past.

Sheamus, the ever resilient bruiser, did not stay down long, and soon went back on the attack against Del Rio. Alberto went back for the shoulder, and taking a page from the Anderson playbook, tried to take out the Great White by focusing on his weakness.

Sheamus would not be denied, and was soon back on his feet. The champ, however, did not receive much love from the Carolina crowd, as was the case most recently with Daniel Bryan.

The Great White is a good baby face, but he is a great heel.  Perhaps it’s only a matter of time before we see a turn from Sheamus?

Orton worked his way back into the ring, and it looked as though he would nail the RKO on Sheamus, but Del Rio quickly cinched up Randy’s arm, until he was able to break the hold.

Chris Jericho ended up back in the ring as well, and by this point, all four men were on their feet, landing some high impact moves on each other.

But, then Sheamus is posted on the bad shoulder by the Viper, and he suddenly seemed to be on the road to a possible win.

As with any fatal four way, the advantage shifts constantly, and with a quick Codebreaker, Chris managed to get Del Rio in the Walls of Jericho. However, Sheamus soon reinserted himself into the match, as he attempted to keep his grasp on the World Title.

Chris gained the upper hand with the Walls, this time on Sheamus, until Orton nailed the RKO on Chris, then Del Rio. But, then Sheamus hit the Brogue kick on Randy.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Sheamus hit his finisher, White Noise, on Chris, and gained the 3 count.

Your winner, and still World Champion, Sheamus.

The crowd did pop pretty well for the champ as he stood on the ramp, giving him respect for the win, and the match.

A good match, with each man doing their part. Well done indeed.

Make no mistake, though. The heat that seems to be brewing between Randy and Sheamus is likely not over just yet.
