I'll Have Another's dead sprint down the final legs was simply unbelievable.
Now, let's take a look at the winners and losers of the 137th annual Preakness Stakes based on the final standings.
Winners
I'll Have Another
Obviously, the winner of the Preakness is the biggest winner. Especially when that winner kept his Triple Crown hopes alive.
I'll Have Another's triumphant chase of Bodemeister down the backstretch was reminiscent of the same feat in the Kentucky Derby.
Chasing a horse down to keep Triple Crown hopes alive is a miraculous feat. Bodemeister ran an outstanding race, but I'll Have Another found a way to get it done.
Zetterholm
Zetterholm faced long-shot odds coming into the race but performed admirably.
With Bodemeister, Creative Cause and Pretension leading through most of the race, Zetterholm held his ground. He performed much better than expected.
Zetterholm did not place in the top three but he surprised a lot of people with his strong showing in this year's Preakness Stakes.
Losers
Daddy Nose Best
Daddy Nose Best entered the race as one of a handful of favorites.
He wound up finishing in ninth place.
Daddy Nose Best could not work his way through the pack, and failed to establish any sustained speed. His terrible finish is a shock to many Preakness observers.
Went the Day Well
Went the Day Well went from being a popular pick to win the Preakness to a 10th-place finisher.
Went the Day Well finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby after an epic sprint down the stretch, however, he was not able to break away at Pimlico.
