WWE Over the Limit 2012: Matches Guaranteed to Thrill

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

The 2012 WWE Over the Limit event is not going to deliver on every match, but there are few that will be so gut-busting, head-pounding exciting that it will all be worth it.

There will be the expected unexpected twist and turns and some great wrestling, and at least one appearance by by a big name that is not on the schedule. Here is what I'm looking forward to the most:

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

This match is going to be a blast. We have four quality wrestlers going in a Fatal Four-Way. This match isn't loaded with a ton of back story to build it up, but this is one match that doesn't need it.

Sure, we got a bit of a rivalry with Sheamus and Orton. They had an epic 27-minute match at SmackDown earlier this year. As far as rivalries go, though, that is about it. They have been in some solid tag matches, but nothing overly memorable has developed because of it.

However, with four dudes going all out for the heavyweight championship, we don't need a lot of drama leading up to it.

And while there isn't a lot of bad blood between these guys leading up this match, you better believe there will be after it.

This one is going to be full action, and a few surprises that will lead to some new rivalries.

WWE Championship Match: CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

These two have been given close to zero face-to-face time to promote this match, but they didn't need it. These two Internet favorites carry enough reputation to get fans excited about this match.

Punk and Bryan are two of the premier performers in the company, and many would say they are the best.

The WWE is not going to have them go head-to-head without some big-time fireworks and gripping back-and-forth action.

This is the perfect opportunity to build a rivalry that will leave fans clamoring for matches, and the WWE will not pass that up. When it is all said and done, this is going to be one of the matches of the year.

John Cena vs. John Laurinaitas

Taken on face value, this match is going to be a dud. John Cena will pummel Laurinaitas, which is entertaining enough, but not overly compelling or worthy of a pay-per-view nod.

There is no reason to take this one at face value, though. Someone is going to make a surprise appearance, and there are two great candidates.

Anyone who interferes will be fired, but wrestlers not currently employed by the company aren't going to care about that.

Paging Big Show and Brock Lesnar: the ring is calling you. One of these guys is going to run interference here. My money is on Big Show coming to Cena's side.

If they really want to make things interesting, they will have both these guys come out and turn things into a giant, wild, arm-twisting free-for-all.
