Vancouver Canucks Twitterverse: 5 Accounts You Must Follow This Summer
For up-to-the-minute news on the Vancouver Canucks and the rest of the NHL, Twitter is proving to be an excellent source of information.
During the season, if you follow the Canucks' official feeds, their fan clubs and their top beat writers, you'll never be caught unaware of the action. You can just follow along on your smartphone.
Now that the Canucks' games have wrapped for the season, our Twitter needs have shifted. Of course, we still want information on organizational and roster changes, the draft and any new initiatives the team might set up over the summer.
But we also need some entertainment. What are the boys up to?
Here's a look at five Twitter feeds that will be worth the time of any Canucks fan.

Roberto Luongo?
1 of 5If you search for Roberto Luongo's name on Twitter, you'll get this result: @1RobertoLuongo
It claims to be Roberto's 'official' page, but it hasn't been verified. The tweets are infrequent, and reflect the positions of the Canucks organization.
If you're looking for something with a little more sass, try this: @NotBobbyLu
This is a very active Luongo parody account. It's not the Canucks' goalie, but it's pretty hockey-savvy in its own right. It's also a gateway to a plethora of other new parody accounts—Canucks and otherwise—that have popped up in its wake.
Here's where things get interesting. @NotBobbyLu converses frequently with @Strombone1, and there's a strong possibility that this *is* the real Roberto Luongo.
Harrison Mooney from the Vancouver Sun's Pass It To Bulis blog is the expert on the Strombone phenomenon and has strung together his evidence in a series of posts, including this one from late April.
I'm sold. I like believing that I'm getting the real Luongo's insights into important cultural events like Snooki's pregnancy and The Bachelor.
Kevin Bieksa
2 of 5Kevin Bieksa, also known as "Juice", is renowned for having the sharpest wit on the Canucks.
He also seems to be one of the teams' ringleaders on Twitter. He has spearheaded the 'animal nicknames' trend for the players, and uses them regularly in tweets like this:
"
Great dinner out in a sneaky good Italian spot in Cowtown-Mercato. Good to have Wolf back with us too!
— Kevin Bieksa (@kbieksa3) April 5, 2012
"
Bieksa is also one of several NHL players currently participating in a Twitter promotion with Bell Mobility called "Playoff Plea". If you can't catch a game, you can submit your plea and hope that you'll get a reply from one of the players, championing for your cause.
Bieksa's tweets have been relatively infrequent since the end of the season, but you never know when he'll chime in.

David Booth
3 of 5No matter how you feel about David Booth's bear-baiting exploits in Alberta earlier this month, he is running one of the Canucks' more personal twitter accounts.
He tweets candidly about what he's up to and gives his followers insight to many aspects of his personality beyond hockey and hunting—other outdoor adventures, his strong Christian faith, and his love for country music, now including Canadian stars Aaron Pritchett and Paul Brandt.
At his best, Booth has an earnest verve for life that makes him worth a follow. Who knows what else he'll get up to this summer?

Gino Odjick
4 of 5Enforcer Gino Odjick was a beloved figure during his eight years with the Canucks in the 90s.
He's best remembered for riding shotgun alongside Pavel Bure, making an impression with his fists and scoring a few pretty goals along the way.
After retirement, Gino moved back to Vancouver, and since 2004 he's been working alongside Musqueam First Nation, managing the Musqueam Golf and Learning Academy.
Gino has an active Twitter account, where he's posting several times a day. He retweets his fans, connects with others from his playing days, and—yes—posts photos from outside the infamous Roxy nightclub in Vancouver. This shot went up this week, when he was apparently hanging out with some old buddies from his hometown of Maniwaki, Quebec.

Vancouver Canucks
5 of 5The Canucks' Twitter feed does a great job of providing timely information, even in the summer months.
Over the past few days, they've introduced a new partnership with PGA golfer Adam Hadwin, kept us up to date on Team Canada's progress at the IIHF World Championship and wished Manny Malhotra a happy birthday. They also link to a steady stream of new Canucks content to help ease the withdrawal during the long break between seasons.
The Canucks may not have the cachet of the now-famous LA Kings Twitter feed, but they do a great job of connecting with their fans.
