Preakness 2012 Post Positions: How Post Positions Shake Up Odds
The pole positions for the 137th annual Preakness Stakes have been released, so, who benefited the most?
The favorite: Bodemeister.
The rich get richer, but that's not the only horse to see their odds change. Here are three horses that have experienced altered odds since the post positions were announced.
Remember, though, with only 11 horses in the race, post position doesn't matter as much in the Preakness as it did at the Kentucky Derby.

Post 1: Tiger Walk, 30-1
Getting the rail spot is great news for one of the biggest long shots of the race, and Tiger Walk has gone from 50-1 to 30-1 odds in the past week.
The problem with this colt is his lack of production in big races. Tiger Walk has disappointed in his last three races and hasn't shown any signs things will change today.
He isn't nearly as talented as most of the field, but his positioning to begin the race gives him a shot.
Post 7: Bodemeister, 8-5
After a terrific showing at the Kentucky Derby, the Bob Baffert-bred Bodemeister enters the Preakness as the strong favorite.
He landed the seventh position, which doesn't mean a whole lot; Bodemeister gets out of the gate in a hurry and can leave the rest of the field in his dust.
As long as he wasn't back in the 11th position, the odds for Bodemeister weren't going to change at all.
In fact, they ended up slightly better after Wednesday's draw.
Post 10: I'll Have Another, 5-2
The odds dipped a bit on the Derby winner, and for good reason.
Starting in the 10th position, I'll Have Another will have to get a strong jump to keep up with the pack at the first turn.
This horse won the Kentucky Derby because of his consistent speed and endurance. In a race that features more of a sprint, though, I'd steer clear from banking on I'll Have Another to win his second consecutive race.
Post 11: Cozzetti, 30-1
Poor Cozzetti.
In the past, he has shown blazing fast speed at races such as the Tampa Bay Derby and the Arkansas Derby, but Cozzetti doesn't have any notable wins to show for it.
And with this position at Preakness, expect the drought to continue.
Cozzetti has terrific stamina, which will help him cover ground out of the 11th position, but unless this track is deemed slop conditions, I'd steer clear of this extreme long shot.
