2012 Preakness TV Schedule: Channel and Online Info for Triple Crown Race
After an exciting Kentucky Derby featuring a late charge by I'll Have Another to pass Bodemeister, horse racing fans will now shift their focus to the Preakness Stakes.
The second leg of the Triple Crown is slightly shorter than the first leg, which should provide some help to the horses that didn't have enough energy to make a run at the derby. Otherwise, the races are similar, including the strong fields they always draw.
Let's take a look at all the key information for Saturday's race.
Where: Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md.
When: Saturday, May 19 at 6:18 p.m. ET

Storylines to Watch
Can I'll Have Another Keep His Triple Crown Hopes Alive?
An unfavorable post position caused many people to count out I'll Have Another two weeks ago, but he was able to overcome that disadvantage to win the Run for the Roses. Now he'll look to take another step toward becoming the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.
He didn't run his best race at Churchill Downs, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Winning the year's biggest race without bringing his A-game is the sign of a good horse. It also means he shouldn't have to worry about being tired on short rest.
Bodemeister will be a strong contender once again and there are a couple other strong horses, but I'll Have Another should be in the mix.
How Will the Smaller Field Affect Kentucky Derby Horses?
A field of 20 took part in the Kentucky Derby, but that will shrink to 11 for the Preakness. Even though that might not seem like a whole lot, taking six mammoth animals out of the mix will really open things up, especially for the horses that just dealt with the crowded field.
It will also give jockeys more options when it comes to setting up their horse's run. They won't have to worry so much about getting caught at the back of the pack. So it should be a cleaner race, helping the chances of those horses who simply had bad luck a few weeks ago.
Which Underdog Has the Best Chance To Shock the Horse Racing World?
There are a couple nice candidates, but none have been hotter than Zetterholm. The colt has rattled off three straight victories and should be well rested having not raced since early April. That's always an advantage in these types of races.
While he'll be taking a step up in class, he's handled every other obstacle thrown his way without any issues. He has enough pace to hang with the other contenders, so it's just a matter of getting a good break and saving enough to make a push down the stretch.
