Preakness 2012 Predictions: Enticing Horses Worth Betting Big on
The 2012 Preakness offers some great plays. As it is now, there are plenty of horses with long odds, and a couple of these horses have a strong chance at finishing in the money.
There are just two horses in this field, Bodemeister and I'll Have Another, with odds anywhere close enough to be considered favorites.
This creates the perfect environment for horses with longer odds to sneak into the money. Take a look at the horses with the best chance to reward you for a big money play.

Bodemeister, 3-1
Bodemeister finished second at the Kentucky Derby to I'll Have Another, but this horse is a much better play at the Preakness.
Both are currently listed at 3-1. But Bodemeister is far better suited to win this race.
This colt exploded out of the gate at the Kentucky Derby. He ran the fastest times ever for the first five splits, and he was still able to hold that lead until the final leg.
That was an impressive display of speed and stamina. The Preakness is shorter than the Derby. This is perfect for Bodemeister.
He will be stronger down the stretch here than he was at the Derby.
Creative Cause, 10-1
Creative Cause finished fifth at the Derby, but it was an impressive fifth place finish.
This colt got stuck in the dense pack of the Derby. He had to work his way through traffic the whole race, and his winding route forced him to run a much longer race than the horses that finished in front of him.
This was a nice display of speed and stamina. And the Preakness is not only a shorter race, but it will have a much smaller field.
With just 12 horses in this race, it will be far easier for Creative Cause to hang back and not get caught up in traffic.
Pretension, 25-1
Pretension is much more of an unknown entity than the previous two. This horse did not run in the Kentucky Derby, but he seems to be finding his form.
Pretension was floundering with a ninth-place effort at the Illinois Derby and followed that up with a fifth-place finish at Gotham.
However, his last time on the track he found his groove with a win at the Canonero II Stakes. This is a horse that is beginning to understand his potential. He is also a local horse, and the familiarity should help him be comfortable for this race.
