Chelsea Transfer News: Landing Luka Modric Won't Be Easy for Blues
Chelsea has been trying to land Luka Modric since last summer, and according to the Daily Mail, they won't have an easy time of prying him away from the Spurs if Daniel Levy has anything to say about it.
"Our squad has top players at all levels and we shall continue to seek stability and to retain key players this summer and beyond. We are a club that is focusing on growth and moving forward.
"
Remember, Levy had to fight a protracted battle to keep his star playmaker on the roster as Chelsea was gunning for him, turning down a £27 million offer for his services, according to ESPN.com.

Neither Levy or manager Harry Redknapp are willing to part with their superstar, but Levy knows Modric is going to be hotly pursued this summer.
Modric has stated in the past that he'd be willing to move "if the club receive a suitable offer and it's one I wouldn't want to turn down," according to The Guardian.
Levy and Redknapp know that letting Modric go this summer damns any chance they have of continuing their successful progression. Losing him would be a major blow and would definitely cause them to move backwards next season.
They are in the midst of planning to build a new stadium. They secured the funding from London Mayor Boris Johnson and Haringey Council to get the deal done in January, according to The Guardian, but losing Modric could potentially put a bit of a damper in the public support of the massive project.
The chances of the Chelsea coming up with a deal that the Spurs would accept doesn't seem likely at this time, but stranger things have happened in the wide world of sports.
The bottom line is that if Chelsea hopes to land Modric this time around, Roman Abramovich is going to have to make Levy and the Spurs an offer they can't refuse.
