World Football Gossip Roundup: Hazard, Van Persie, Tevez, Ivanovic, Giroud
You know the stories already. But do you know the latest developments?
Let's find out, shall we?
Eden Hazard to Manchester City? Old news, sure. But for how much?
Robin van Persie staying at Arsenal? Makes sense, yes. But says who?
Carlos Tevez to anywhere? Of course, of course. But who's willing to do something crazy to sign him?
All those questions are answered inside, along with plenty of others you might not have known you were asking.
Read on for all the latest, and leave your own rumors in the comments.
City to Bid on Hazard?
1 of 8By now, you surely know that Manchester City will bid on Lille winger Eden Hazard.
But now, the news is what City will bid for the 21-year-old Belgian.
Thankfully, The Sun has you covered:
"MANCHESTER CITY have been given the green light to launch a £35million raid for Eden Hazard — after he tweeted he was leaving Lille.
Hazard, who was named France’s Player of the Year yesterday, said on Twitter: “Two games more to play in the colours of Lille.”
City boss Roberto Mancini said: “I like Hazard a lot. He’s young and would do great things in our team.”
"
Grazie, capitano obvious.
RvP's Wife Wants to Stay?
2 of 8Honestly, I really don't know why somebody didn't try this earlier.
Want to know whether Robin van Persie will leave Arsenal this summer? Ask his wife.
From the Daily Mirror:
"[A]s far as Robin’s wife Bouchra is concerned, their family comes first.
She said: “We have been in London for eight years now. As a family, we love it here.
“Robin is captain of Arsenal and, as many people claim, the leader of the Arsenal team.
“Arsenal believed in Robin when he was young and when he was considered as a bit of a rebel.
“We don’t want to upset things at home either. Our kids, Shaqueel and Dina, go to school here in London. And they are just as happy as we are.
"
Well, then. It's settled, right?
Right?!
(Please say it's settled, Robin.)
"Everything" for Tevez?
3 of 8You remember the Carlos Tevez transfer saga, right? Of course you do. How could any of us forget?
Well, it seems AC Milan will be trying again to get their man this summer.
From Goal.com:
"AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has confirmed his intention to resurrect the club's bid to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez this summer, declaring: "We will do everything to get him."
The Rossoneri came close to landing the Argentine during the January transfer window, agreeing personal terms with the player only to fail to agree a transfer fee with his English employers.
"
Galliani speculated at the time that the opportunity to acquire Tevez - who was in dispute with City at the time - was unlikely to arise again, but he has now revealed that he is as determined as ever to make it happen.
"I want Tevez," the 67-year-old Monza native told Corriere dello Sport. "We will do everything to get him."
Hmm. I want to know what "everything" means. Remember, Silvio Berlusconi is the club's controlling shareholder and president.
Ivanovic to Real Madrid?
4 of 8Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign defender Branislav Ivanovic from Chelsea, Mourinho's former club.
The deal would reportedly cost Real £15 million, according to The Sun:
"The Blues are looking to make a cool £12m profit on the player they signed from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2008.
Mourinho has made defensive reinforcements his main priority and sees Ivanovic as a perfect fit because of his versatility.
Chelsea’s decision to even consider an offer is unlikely to impress their fans who already feel Ivanovic’s absence from the Champions League final next Saturday against Bayern Munich is likely to severely hamper their chances of victory.
"
They're right, you know. Moves like this always seem to work.
Giroud Dreaming of England?
5 of 8Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud is unsure whether he'll leave his club this summer. But if he does, he wants a move to England.
That's according to Goal.com, which says Giroud is "dreaming" of the Premier League.
"Giroud, who is under contract to Montpellier until 2013, has now hinted that his future lies elsewhere.
"
"I do not know yet what I'll do next season, if I leave or stay in Montpellier," he told Telefoot. "But English clubs make me dream, this championship makes me dream.
"But I am not obsessed with England! And money is not a motivation in my career. I make strategic choices of a sporting point of view."
Giroud leads France's Ligue 1 with 21 goals this season.
Ferguson Watches Kagawa?
6 of 8Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly traveled to Berlin on Saturday to watch Borussia Dortmund's 5-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Cup final.
That's according to The Sun. Kagawa scored once and provided an assist on another goal for Dortmund.
United are reportedly plotting a £7 million move for Kagawa.
United play at Sunderland on Sunday needing a win to have a realistic shot at the English Premier League title.
Rio's Paycut?
7 of 8In other Manchester United news, veteran central defender Rio Ferdinand will reportedly be asked to take a large paycut in his next contract.
From Goal.com:
"Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand is on a potential collision course with the club over an expected £50,000 pay cut in his new contract.
Ferdinand’s current terms run until June 2013 but Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to offer him a new one-year rolling deal with a view to to the 33-year-old staying at Old Trafford until at least 2014.
"
But the club’s owners, the Glazer family, are thought to have indicated that they want Ferdinand to accept a huge decrease on his current £120,000-a-week salary before bonuses.
Math geeks already will have figured out that Ferdinand would thus be making £70,000 per week. That translates to £3,640,000 per year.
Poor Rio.
Mancini's Tattoo?
8 of 8Finally, with the final day of the English Premier League season looming, I leave you with this story of Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.
Bob, it seems, has a hankering for some ink.
From the Daily Mirror:
"Roberto Mancini will be challenged by his staff to honour his title tattoo promise.
The Manchester City manager vowed that he would go under the needle to honour the Blues winning their first championship since 1968.
And members of the Italian’s coaching team have this week been reminding him about having the City crest tattooed on his left leg.
Mancini, 47, celebrated winning the Italian League with Sampdoria in 1991 by having a club emblem tattooed just above his right ankle.
