WWE: 5 Reasons Why Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar Should Happen
Brock Lesnar had a lengthy feud with The Big Show when he was the WWE Undisputed Champion.
The feud would start in late 2002 and, after feuding with Angle and Cena in-between, tapered off in the summer of 2003.
This feud brought many good matches and many classic moments, really helping to advance Brock Lesnar’s career and keep him as the focal point of the WWE.
Lesnar is back and Big Show is still here—why not re-ignite this excellent feud?
I have listed five reasons why Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar should happen once more.
To Show He Is Still as Strong as He Ever Was
1 of 5Many may doubt Lesnar’s strength since he returned to the squared circle and I think a feud with the Big Show would easily silence the skeptics—providing he can lift the big man for an F-5.
It has been a while since we saw anyone lift a superstar as heavy as Big Show above their heads (barring John Cena, of course).
If you followed Brock Lesnar’s career during his hiatus from the WWE, then you would know that he suffered from a very serious illness known as diverticulitis (an intestinal disorder) which left him weak and required surgery.
Facing Big Show would not only show that he beat this debilitating illness that kept him away from what he loves , but also that he has come back stronger than he ever was.
Paul Heyman
2 of 5Paul Heyman returned on Monday Night to speak on Brock Lesnar’s behalf.
His appearance alone is an excellent excuse to have Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar being as Paul Heyman was heavily involved in the title match at Survivor Series 2002, in which he screwed Brock out of the title.
To have another screwjob may be predictable, but would any of us care?
Really?
I would be excellent to see and again, with the right build-up, would be a show-stealing match.
Paul Heyman could sell you a chocolate fireplace if he wanted to—so with him involved we really would feel like we were pumped to see The Next Big Thing face the Giant.
Paul Heyman would also allow the WWE to send Brock Lesnar’s character whatever way they felt necessary.
Want him to be a heel? Have Heyman stick with the beast.
Want him to turn into a fan favourite? Have Paul Heyman betray him.
Simple.
It Would Solidify His Mega-Heel Status
3 of 5I know I just said Paul Heyman could change Brock Lesnar into a face, but it is highly unlikely.
Lately, Big Show is the ultimate babyface and pitting Lesnar against him would not only shock the crowd almost as much as it did when he busted Cena open, it would also cement the fact that Lesnar is an unstoppable machine who doesn’t care about anyone or anything.
It could also help to instill a sense of “the bigger the challenge, the better” in Brock Lesnar, making for a more exciting show and ultimately making more people tune in.
Big Show Has Nothing to Do
4 of 5He’s lost the Intercontinental title he never should have had and now Big Show is stuck in mediocre rematches with Cody Rhodes, a man who should be on his way to the main event in a matter of months.
Thus, the big man has nothing to do anymore.
No-one wants to see Triple H beat Brock Lesnar once and for the returning superstar to have absolutely no momentum, so pair him up with Big Show and give the fans what they want!
A decent feud could be made here and it would give an aging veteran a good few months before he thinks about the possibility of hanging up his boots.
Nostalgia
5 of 5Those who followed the WWE throughout the Ruthless Aggression Era would see this as a huge rematch due to the pair having many high-profile PPV bouts during their battle for the WWE Undisputed title.
Nostalgia is fantastic if it is used in the correct manner.
As we saw at this WrestleMania with The Undertaker vs. Triple H and the appearance of The Rock—the PPV buys skyrocketed and it was all due to the hype that was given to these matches.
I feel if the same sort of hype was given to Big Show and Lesnar, people would start tuning in to see history relive itself once more.
From their first meeting at Survivor Series 2002, to their ring-crushing competition on SmackDown in 2003, Brock Lesnar and The Big Show have given us some great moments and I believe there is scope for more.
I’m back, and I’m better than ever.
