Jose Mourinho: Where Real Madrid Manager Will Coach Next Season and Why

Michael CummingsJun 7, 2018

Not for the first time in Jose Mourinho's career, rumor, innuendo and speculation surround the Portuguese manager.

For now, though, there's no reason to believe any of it.

Furthermore, there's no reason to believe he'll manage any club other than Real Madrid next season.

On Wednesday, Mourinho's Real Madrid clinched the La Liga title for the 32nd time in club history by winning 3-0 at Athletic Bilbao. Mourinho has now won domestic league championships in four different countries.

The 49-year-old has also won the English Premier League title with Chelsea, the Italian Serie A with Inter Milan and the Portuguese Primera Liga crown with Porto.

However, he said the triumphant 2011-12 campaign was his "toughest" yet.

Per The Telegraph:

"

"We have to celebrate this championship (but then) we have to continue working after tomorrow because next season will also be tough and we have games to play still in this campaign," Mourinho added.

"This team deserves even more emotion and affection, and I expect the Bernabeu to give it to them in our match against Mallorca."

"

Throughout the season, Mourinho has been repeatedly linked with a return to Chelsea, the team he managed from 2004-07.

In fact, a report in The Sun claimed Mourinho had told a "top source" that he would return to Chelsea. Meanwhile, another report in the Daily Mirror said he would come back for a £12 million yearly salary and a guarantee that the Blues would sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

Don't believe any of it. Mourinho is staying at Real next season.

Sure, Chelsea can offer piles of cash—so can Real.

Mourinho has already managed Chelsea. Now he's trying to build a dynasty at Real Madrid.

Besides, he said as recently as last week that he'll be back at Real next season. In this case, there seems to be little reason to question his sincerity.

Per The Guardian:

"

"If I have anything in my mind, it is to try to win with these [players]," he said. "Winning the Copa del Rey last year was important and if we win the league this year that will be important too. Two [Champions League] semi-finals is also not bad but we want more."

"

The key here is the Champions League.

The first part of Mourinho's process at Real Madrid included overtaking Barcelona. Last season, Real claimed the Copa del Rey by beating Barca in the final. This season, Mourinho pushed Los Blancos past Barca in the league.

Clearly, Mourinho had hoped to add more Champions League glory to his resume this spring, but that will have to wait.

Until next year, that is. There's no way Jose will pass up another shot at the Champions League with Real.
