WWE Raw SuperShow Recap: The Top 5 Moments of the Night
As if we didn't have enough to chew on after Extreme Rules, the WWE Raw SuperShow has flipped the WWE Universe on it's head.
Coming out of Extreme Rules, the landscape was set for some changes, but predicting just how many would hit us tonight was near impossible.
Brock Lesnar failed to get the win over John Cena but shredded Cena's arm during their main-event match on Sunday night. Cena was expected to announce that he was injured, and taking time off, but we found out tonight that wasn't quite the plan.
The plan is for John Cena to face a shocking surprise opponent at WWE Over the Limit, and that opponent is John Laurinaitis.
Lesnar's new contract was shredded by Triple H, despite John Laurinaitis taking Lesnar's side. Lesnar unleashed on Triple H, and WWE officials are saying that Triple H's arm is broken. There's no doubt that Lesnar and Triple H are on a collision course later this Summer.
WWE didn't stop there though. We have new Tag Team Champions and a surprising new No. 1 contender for CM Punk's WWE Championship.
Browse the following slides and see how we ranked the top five moments of Raw and sound off in the comment section with your personal top moments of the night!
R-Truth and Kofi Kingston Become Tag Team Champions
1 of 5This moment makes our top five by default. The fact that it's a title change gives it the necessary bump to beat instant classics like Kane vs. The Great Khali.
With no real positioning, after Primo and Epico had lost to Zack Ryder and Santino Marella in recent weeks, R-Truth and Kofi Kingston got a title shot for some reason.
Kofi and R-Truth have both suffered from their hot tag team crumbling, and they've joined up to form a yet-to-be named team.
The match was pretty basic and felt like WWE was just sweeping Primo and Epico under the rug.
Hey, maybe WWE is finally going to build up their tag team division. Don't hold your breath though.
Jerry Lawler Participates in the Beat the Clock Challenge
2 of 5When Jerry Lawler's music hit, and he walked to the ring as the final participant in the beat the clock challenge to determine who would challenge CM Punk for the WWE Championship at Over the Limit, it became obvious that Daniel Bryan would beat Randy Orton's time.
So, if you're anything like me at all, you were probably too excited about CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan headlining a WWE pay-per-view to focus on the quick match that took place.
Lawler actually got in some offense of his own, but it was futile in the end, and he tapped to Bryan's Yes Lock.
John Laurinaitis Destroys John Cena
3 of 5Throw all of that speculation about John Cena taking some time off out the window.
John Laurinaitis interrupted John Cena's show closing promo to let him know who he'd be facing at Over the Limit, and before Laurinaitis could say a name, Lord Tensai's music hit.
Tensai immediately began stalking Cena, and once he made it to the ring, they had a quick standoff.
Out of nowhere, John Laurinaitis flatted Cena, attacking him from behind. Laurinaitis, Tensai and Sakamoto worked together and focused on Cena's injured arm.
Strangely enough, Laurinaitis was a believable threat. He had the feel of a veteran wrestler turned suit who knew his way around a ring but utilized some muscle to make sure the job got done.
Brock Lesnar Brawls with Triple H
4 of 5Triple H wasn't having it. John Laurinaitis conceded far too much to Brock Lesnar, and Triple H wouldn't allow it.
Triple H had to shut up Laurinaitis in the show's opening promo and tore up Lesnar's new contract. Triple H offered to keep Lesnar's old contract to allow Lesnar to continue to work with the company.
The moment Triple H turned his back, Brock Lesnar pounced and dished out a vicious beating.
Lesnar tangled with the WWE COO for a few moments before pulling guard and breaking Triple H's arm with a kimura.
Babyfaces rushed out of the locker room to chase off Lesnar and aid Triple H to the back.
CM Punk Applauds Daniel Bryan
5 of 5Keep it simple, stupid.
When Daniel Bryan officially became the new No. 1 contender for CM Punk's WWE Championship, it was only moments later that the champ's music hit.
CM Punk stepped out on the entrance ramp, title around his waist, and applauded his new challenger. They traded words with one another and did a little showboating, and that was it.
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan...for the most prestigious title in professional wrestling. The moment was simple and has me absolutely pumped to see these two go at it.
