This Week with Chelsea: 23rd April 2012 ~ 29th April 2012
Wow. What a week for Chelsea this has been. There were points this season that I thought this season was going to be an extremely depressing one that we would struggle to recover from. Now here I sit, Chelsea have exorcised their demons from "that semifinal" by defying the odds and beating Barcelona to reach the Champions League Final; then, they follow that up by quieting down the "noisy neighbours" in impressive style by recording their biggest ever win over Queens Park Rangers. Let's not forget that Torres has scored four goals this week.
Tuesday was honestly the most stressful match I've ever watched in my life. Ever since we beat Benfica, I believed that Chelsea could, with a bit of luck, get past Barcelona, and I wasn't wrong, but it was, in true Chelsea style, a wild ride. Going 1-0 down, I could take; Chelsea were never going to go to the Nou Camp and stop them from scoring, but the double blow of having John Terry sent off and Barcelona's second left me waiting for the thrashing.

As I stood there with an emotional mixture of anger and disbelief, I made a decision. No matter how bad this match got I was going to watch and support the team I love.
Then, Ramires scored. Suddenly, Chelsea had hope and a scoreline that would win them the tie. The second half was the most stressful 45 minutes of my life. Only lionhearted defending by the team and the sheer lack of a Plan B by Barcelona kept them hanging in, and then, Torres scored that goal. Gary Neville's orgasm has nothing compared to roar I let out. I must have woken the neighbours, but they're football fans, so they'd understand. With Bayern Munich beating Real Madrid, Chelsea will have to beat the Germans in their own backyard to win the Champions League. It'll be a tough game, but I wouldn't bet against Chelsea.
Unsurprisingly, I was in a positive mood coming into Sunday's match against QPR, hoping for a nice big win to help send them back down to the Championship. The fans irritate me, and I'm getting bored of people going on about bloody handshakes. Not to mention that Joey Barton is one of the biggest disgraces ever to run out onto a football pitch. I'd take John Terry on his worst day over Barton on his best.
Sturridge went some way to redeeming himself with one of the quickest goals in recent memory, Terry further infuriated QPR fans by scoring Chelsea's second, and then somewhere, in the dark recesses of Torres' mind, a memory stirred. Torres remembered that he's one of the world's best strikers, and he scored a great hat trick. He looked sharp, hungry and happy.
It's too early to proclaim the return of the Torres of old, but I'm hopeful. Malouda rounded off Chelsea's goal glut before Cisse, deciding that for once, he'd like to finish the 90' minutes instead of getting sent off, scored a consolation for QPR.
Next week looks to be an even better week, with a six-pointer against Newcastle on Wednesday and the FA Cup Final against Liverpool on Saturday. Both are games Chelsea can win; I'm announcing this as the start of the fall of Newcastle and Liverpool at the moment are ripe for the beating. Remember that any Chelsea player who gets time on the pitch is auditioning for a place in the team for the Champions League Final. If that's not enough to get you fired up and playing at your best, then you may as well go home and make pancakes.
So yes, I'm confident.Yes, I'm excited, and yes, I support the best team in the world.
