40 Unbelievable Baseball Videos on YouTube
The advent of YouTube has given us a great way to access digital media, and while Major League Baseball works hard to keep their content off of it, there's plenty of other videos worth seeing.
Whether it's a kid with too much time on his hands executing some trick shots, a manager going on an animated tirade, or a prank executed to perfection by a player in spring training, one can spend hours on end scanning through the Internet to take it all in.
Here are some of the best baseball videos YouTube has to offer.
Ruben Rivera's Brutal Base Running
1 of 40Teams spend a great deal of time working on base running during spring training, and while slip ups will always happen, Ruben Rivera took a page out of his T-ball days when he displayed a total lack of the basics.
Josh Womack Bat Tricks
2 of 40The ability to do the spinning bat trick won't get you any more hits, but hey, it can get you featured on YouTube.
Ball Girl 'Catch'
3 of 40Videos definitely lose some of their luster once you realize they're not real, but this one with the girl doing her best Spider-Man impersonation is still entertaining.
Connor Powers Trick Shots
4 of 40Being able to hit baseballs into garbage cans won't exactly translate to becoming a great player, but it certainly can't hurt—I guess.
Tim Hudson Becomes a Murderer (sort Of)
5 of 40With as much free time as starting pitchers have on their hands, I guess it's not all that surprising to think that they're typically some of the biggest pranksters in baseball.
If I were this guy, though, I'd find a way to get back at Tim Hudson.
Joe Carter Gives Derek Bell's Car Away
6 of 40During Fan Appreciation Day in Toronto it was announced that one lucky fan would be winning a car being brought onto the field by Joe Carter.
Teammate Derek Bell's expression is priceless as he realizes that the car being "given away" is none other than his very own.
Evan Longoria Snags a Line Drive
7 of 40Another computer enhanced video here, but definitely worthy of a couple looks.
Three-Man Lift
8 of 40The three-man lift is a seemingly annual spring training tradition where rookies are entangled next to each other and a player subsequently attempts to lift them, or so they think.
These guys have to know what's really coming, don't they?
Ultimate Batting Practice
9 of 40It's too bad this isn't possible, although I don't doubt that more than a few people have wasted time trying to get this done.
Batting Robot
10 of 40Even though he's not off to the hottest of starts in Los Angeles, some have often wondered if Albert Pujols was a machine due to the amazing abilities he possesses.
Even with a start like this season, he's still far better than this fine machine.
Fake Lost Ball
11 of 40It's hard to believe these tricks can actually work in a game involving players older than eight years old, but apparently from time to time miracles can happen.
Kelly Johnson's Interesting Walk-Up Music
12 of 40Many pranks are centered around clubhouses and spring training, leaving fans in the dark.
Every once in awhile, however, fans are lucky enough to enjoy the humor of these situations.
That was the case here, as Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Kelly Johnson came up to bat, only to hear that his at-bat theme song had been changed to "It's Raining Men."
Ryan Braun's Base Running Re-Enacted
13 of 40Ryan Braun is the unquestioned leader of the Milwaukee Brewers, but I'm going out on a limb here and saying teammates may not want to follow his lead when it comes to base running.
As if it wasn't enough for him to repeatedly see his base running error on TV, his teammates were kind enough to mark the scene of the crime for him.
Wally Backman Blows a Gasket
14 of 40WARNING: Explicit Content.
I can't speak to Wally Backman's fiery nature during the rest of his managerial career, but I find it odd that on a day when he just happens to be miked up for a game, he unleashes one of the most brutal tirades in baseball history.
Oldest Trick in the Book
15 of 40College players are taught all sorts of fundamentals throughout the day, but apparently this one slipped past them.
Flip over Catcher
16 of 40Athleticism helps any baseball player thrive on the diamond, but flipping over catchers just isn't something that you see everyday.
Crazy Baseball Tricks
17 of 40Flashy fielding skills certainly make the game more fun, but I have a hard time believing they'd have a chance at converting these throws during an actual game.
The Big Unit Blows Up a Bird
18 of 40Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I can't even imagine what the odds are of this occurring.
Unintentional-Intentional Walk-off
19 of 40Throwing an intentional walk is supposed to be one of the easiest jobs a pitcher can have, but this pitcher does an amazing job of screwing it up.
Rain Delay Dance-off
20 of 40Players have enough time on their hands as it is in the dugouts, but when the rain starts falling and the tarp finds its way onto the diamond, things can reach a whole new level of odd.
Sausage-Gate
21 of 40Randall Simon became the center of a sausage conflict in Milwaukee a few years ago, after he took a swing at one of the running sausages that race during the seventh-inning stretch at Miller Park.
Cameraman Takes a Dive During Playoff Game
22 of 40The life of a cameraman was once a lot easier, as they were typically more stationary.
With today's coverage expanding to new levels, however, cameramen are now endangering themselves more than ever.
Who would've guessed it'd be such a dangerous line of work.
Rosin Grenade
23 of 40Managers have been going off the handle for quite some time now, and while most tirades are confined to some screaming in the face of umpires, this minor league manager finds all sorts of ways to voice his displeasure.
Nyjer Morgan/Tony Plush/Tony Gumbo
24 of 40Nyjer Morgan certainly gave the Milwaukee Brewers a new element of personality when he came over from the Washington Nationals this spring.
As we see in this video, he apparently also brought Tony Plush and Tony Gumbo along with him.
Greg Zaun Forgets How to Throw
25 of 40Much like throwing an intentional walk, tossing the baseball back to the pitcher should be the easiest job a catcher can have, but as Greg Zaun can relate, it can be much, much more difficult than it seems.
Delmon Young Throws Bat at Umpire
26 of 40Delmon Young has a whole new set of issues to face after his arrest last week, but that wasn't the first conflict surrounding the former No. 1 overall pick, as he once threw a bat at an umpire in a minor league game, earning himself a 50-game suspension in the process.
Man Drops His Kid Trying to Catch Foul Ball
27 of 40Foul balls may be a prized possession for any fan at a baseball game, but as this guy can probably tell you, dropping your child to try to catch one can be a terrible decision.
I wonder if his wife has forgiven him yet?
Yankee Fan Steals Food
28 of 40You can't really blame this Yankees fan for wanting to give the pork chop on a stick at Target Field a try.
But he could've at least bought his own.
Unassisted Triple Play
29 of 40Triple plays are about the most uncommon occurrence in baseball as it is, so when you see someone take on the task all by themselves, it takes on a whole new level of impressiveness.
Balk of the Year
30 of 40Pitching isn't really that hard, is it?
Intentional Walk Home Run
31 of 40We've already touched on intentional walks a couple times, and while a mistake like this may not actually happen in the major leagues, leaving a pitch over the plate when you're trying to walk a slugger is a huge error.
Nolan Ryan Owns Robin Ventura
32 of 40It's one of the most well remembered brawls in baseball history, and while Robin Ventura may have shown all the ambition in the world when he charged after fire-baller Nolan Ryan, he definitely came up on the short end of the stick.
Horrible First Pitches
33 of 40I guess something as simple as throwing out a first pitch can be a difficult measure if you haven't been around the game, and with the ceremonial pitches being a part of the game for so long now, there's been an incalculable number of failures along the way.
Ken Griffey Jr. Gives Lou Pineilla a Steak Dinner, and Then Some
34 of 40During his time with the Mariners, manager Lou Piniella won a wager with Ken Griffey Jr.
He was supposed to repay the debt with a steak dinner, but he took that to an extreme, as Piniella found out when he entered his office.
Cole Smith Bat Tricks
35 of 40You certainly can't rule out the fact that Cole Smith was just such a failure at hitting a baseball that he opted to try and aim for a larger target.
Izzy Alcantara Kicks Catcher, Charges Mound
36 of 40There really isn't much to say about the video here involving Izzy Alcantara's infamous kicking incident.
It's just so stupid that any player could actually think that under any circumstances anything good could possibly come from doing something like that.
Umpire Fail
37 of 40Umpires are scrutinized for so many things on a daily basis that they may deserve a little bit of slack, but then again, this is just so bad that he deserves everything he's got coming his way.
Billy Ray Rojo Johnson
38 of 40Venezuelan pitching star Billy Ray Rojo Johnson's baseball career in America was quite short, as he made just one appearance—in fact, it was just one pitch with the Round Rock Express.
He may be onto something with his replacing of the rosin bag behind the mound with a plastic bag full of beer, though.
Jeter Worthy Acting Job
39 of 40Taking a page out of Derek Jeter's playbook, this guy did an admirable job of making it look like he got the brunt of a misplaced fastball.
The umpire wasn't buying it, however, and he ultimately got shown the exit as a reward for his efforts.
Kyle Kendrick Is Traded to Japan
40 of 40There really isn't much to say here other than that this has to be one of the best pranks in baseball history.
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel does a great acting job in making Kyle Kendrick truly believe he's on his way out the door.
The feeling of being traded can't feel good, especially when you think you're headed to the other side of the world.
