NBA Playoffs 2012 Predictions: Teams Most Likely to Sweep in Round 1

Timothy RappApr 27, 2012

This is a bittersweet topic to tackle, indeed. On the one hand, there will be fans out there thrilled to see their team will have little trouble advancing in these playoffs.

On the other, there will be plenty of fans angered that I think their team will be swept. If it makes you feel any better, I believe my beloved Philadelphia Sixers won't win a game against the Chicago Bulls.

Sometimes, reality bites.

Chicago Bulls over Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers came back to earth toward the end of the season, and they are little more than a hard-working, defensive-oriented team that ultimately is just pretty average.

I love Doug Collins and how he's created a true team in Philadelphia, but the Sixers lack the sort of go-to player that you need to win championships in the NBA.

The Bulls' stingy defense and Derrick Rose will be too much for the Sixers to overcome. This one will be quick and easy for Chicago.

San Antonio Spurs over Utah Jazz

Outside of Utah, did anyone expect the Jazz to be a playoff team this year?

I'm happy for the Jazz and the team's faithful, but I don't think they stand a chance against a vastly superior and far more experienced San Antonio Spurs squad.

If Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap can own the paint, maybe the Jazz steal a win. But against the experienced triumvirate of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan, I think the Jazz will be outclassed in four straight games.

But they'll be back.

Indiana Pacers over Orlando Magic

Orlando fans, do you honestly think the Magic can win a single game in this series without Dwight Howard?

I mean, seriously—there's no way this team stands a chance with Howard sidelined. Not a chance in hell.

I don't think they'd beat the talented Pacers with Howard, but I know they don't have a popsicle's chance on Venus of beating them without the game's best center.

They were 4-8 down the stretch without him, and they face a deep Indiana squad that features six players averaging double-digit points per game.

Sorry, Orlando—the offseason will be upon you quickly.

Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets always hit the spot, like Philip Humber.
