Arsenal: Thierry Henry Dreams of Future as Gunners' Manager

Christopher HallJun 7, 2018

Pep Guardiola went from star player with Barcelona to one of the most successful managers in the club's history. Who's to say Thierry Henry cannot follow suit at Arsenal?

In a conversation with USA Today readers, the New York Red Bulls forward was asked whether he might enter football management at the end of his playing career.

"You know what? I might...," Henry said. "I know I will be in the game for sure. Why not? Sure."

Asked a follow-up question about where he would like to manage, Henry was unequivocal.

"Everyone knows the love I have for Arsenal Football Club," the former Gunner replied. "So you know it goes without saying where. That's a dream."

After beginning his career with French club Monaco, Henry transferred to Arsenal in the summer of 1999.

Over the next eight seasons, the striker played 380 times for Arsenal. He racked up two League titles, three FA Cups, four Golden Boots, and five Player of the Year awards.

He also scored a club record 226 goals, and in 2008 fans voted him Arsenal's Greatest Player Ever.

After leaving London in 2007, Henry picked up two La Liga titles and a Champions League trophy during three seasons with Barcelona.

Then he headed to the United States and New York Red Bulls, where he has been the best player in MLS since stepping foot off the plane.

Henry reinforced his love affair with Arsenal fans during a brief loan spell this past winter.

Turning out for his old team seven times, Henry scored three goals, including two game winners.
