WWE Extreme Rules 2012: Why This Will Be WWE's Worst Event of the Year
There is something about a PPV event that is less than a month removed from WrestleMania where feuds have not changed (at least most of them), and there is an undercurrent of disbelief among the wrestlers.
Yes, I am talking about Extreme Rules coming up this weekend. Excuse me if I am not fully engulfed by the storylines, the drama and the plotlines that follow up WrestleMania 28.
Few things in the professional wrestling could have topped what we saw at the beginning of the month.

But while there are new faces (Brock Lesnar, Lord Tensai), this event feels rushed, uneven and certainly void of drama. A good PPV has all those components and wants us to plunk down $49.95 to watch it.
I am sure the buy rates for this one will be poor and someone like Hornswoggle will be blamed for the mess, so much so, he will lose his voice again, or maybe even worse, he may grow tall.
I am sure this is just WrestleMania hangover, but there isn't a lot that can be said about Extreme Rules.
The Rock isn't here. Chris Jericho has to win the WWE Title in Chicago, in CM Punk's hometown with his mom, dad, sister and friends watching because there is no other place for Jericho to go or another angle he can work right now.
John Cena looks like a green elf in his attire and needs more than an enema to get his motor running. I guess Edge getting in his face started to stir the fires inside. I wonder if there will be a full-on barbeque Sunday night where Cena is roasting Brock Lesnar's behind.
The Randy Orton/Kane angle is interesting, but I am tired of it involving Cowboy Bob Orton. Can't we get away from family and just wrestle? Can't we see a great feud between these two guys without the extra-curricular stuff? Both former world champions should be able to put on a great match and feud without the "minutiae" of crap. Both of you are entertainers for God's sake.
No, I don't want to see Daniel Bryan yell "YES!" 50 million times and would just love it if AJ Lee came out and helped Sheamus beat the short gremlin in 18 seconds again. That would be a hoot, wouldn't it? Sheamus needs another angle; step right up, Mr. Mark Henry. Let's get this thing started.
The shoe is now on the other foot between Big Show and Cody Rhodes. But a world title is more to Rhodes' liking and more deserved than chasing 400 pounds around with no real conclusion in sight. When will the WWE get it right and have Rhodes face someone like CM Punk?
And, oh yeah, what happened to the wrestling part of this promotion and when did drinking and family business take precedence over the idea that people came to see the wrestling match, not botched-up storylines and insane angles that are more annoying than anything else?
And by the way, wasn't it great to see Edge on television last night?
