Robert Turbin to Seahawks: Video Highlights, Scouting Report and Analysis

Shane GrayApr 28, 2012

Utah State running back Robert Turbin, 5'10" and 222 pounds, had a prolific 2011 season, rushing for 1,517 yards and 19 touchdowns.

The sturdily built Turbin has been clocked as fast as 4.42 in the 40-yard dash and uses that speed to explode through holes. He runs with both patience and power and displays good cut-back ability.

Out of the backfield, Turbin displays good hands and could contribute in the passing game.

On the other hand, Turbin possesses some significant injury concerns. He took a redshirt in 2007 due to a foot injury and missed the entirety of the 2010 campaign with a torn ACL.

In spite of his fast-timed speed, Turbin has shown a propensity for being caught from behind. If you are looking for a bona fide home run hitter via the backfield, he would not be your first choice in that regard.

Bleacher Report's Senior NFL Draft Lead Writer Matt Miller rated Turbin as his No. 10 running back. In terms of his overall prospect ranking, Miller had him at No. 121.

Rob Rang of cbssports.com shared the following on Turbin here:

"

Possessing as impressive an upper body physique as any running back in the country (well, perhaps excluding Alabama's Trent Richardson), Turbin uses his strong arms and good leg drive to plow through defenders. He's hardly just a power runner, however, possessing surprising agility and acceleration for such a powerful back.

Rated by NFLDraftScout.com as a likely fourth round pick and the No. 11 running back overall, Turbin rushed for 3,315 yards and 40 touchdowns over his Aggie career. He's also a reliable receiver out of the backfield, having caught 67 passes for 845 yards and 11 more scores and is among the stouter pass blockers of this year's running back class.

"

In terms of rookie impact, running back is a position where the transition to the pro game is often quick. Look for Turbin to contribute on the ground this season and perhaps get a few touches through the air, too.

Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett form a pretty nasty duo for the Seahawks.  Turbin's insane statistical achievement last year will undoubtedly scare the rest of the NFC West.
