NFL Rumors: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Smart to Keep Aqib Talib
Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib has his problems both on and off the field, but head coach Greg Schiano is smart not to cut ties with his player.
""I can tell you is there is absolutely zero thinking on our part as far as wanting to do that." Bucs HC Greg Schiano said of the trade rumors, according to the Tampa Tribune. "I want him to be a Buc. I understand there were issues before I arrived. I do know that. And I'm not naive to the fact that some of those are a heck of a lot bigger than just playing football."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Talib is just too important to this team for how little trading him will bring in return.
The fourth-year corner is a giant headache, a walking suspension. He finished last season with a hamstring injury, and the Bucs are in position to draft his potential replacement, Morris Claiborne, with the No. 5 overall pick. There are certainly plenty of reasons for Tampa Bay to rid itself of Talib.
But as ESPN's Pat Yasinkas puts it, he doesn't necessarily hold a whole lot of value, either.
""I don't think anyone would give up anything for him right now. If he goes through trial and is cleared and isn't going to be suspended by the NFL, then, he has some trade value."
"
That puts the Bucs in a tricky position. Trading Talib would make sense because, well, he's not a smart person and he brings tons of problems, but if they did find a potential suitor, they would be selling very low on a player with No. 1 potential.
It just isn't the right time to give up on him.
What's more, the Bucs play in the NFC South.
That means they have to face Drew Brees, Cam Newton, and Matt Ryan six times every season. Regardless if they grab Claiborne to go along with Ronde Barber or not, having as many talented corners as possible is ideal.
Aqib Talib may not be worth it for a lot of teams, and that's understandable. But for this specific team in this specific situation, it's smart of the Bucs to just hold on for the roller-coaster ride of their lives.
