The Friday Tweetbag: Who Should Start in Tennessee?

Welcome to the Tweetbag!

Each week, I answer your questions sent by Twitter, email or in the comments section of the articles. Be sure to use the hashtag #tweetbag.

A: Obviously the Titans should start whoever is the best player. However, they have to at least hope that Jake Locker is the best player. Last year Hasselbeck gave them real life with some steady play, but he was hardly elite. If the Titans want to make the leap to a legitimate playoff team, Jake Locker becoming a star is the fastest way to get to that end.

To put it simply, if the two men come out roughly equal, then Locker has to be the starter. I don't believe quarterbacks get better by sitting. They get better by playing.

Q:

A: How fast can I answer this one? How about a simple: yes. I think the Titans have a respectable receiving corps, but Floyd can still help. He doesn't meet their biggest need, but you have to consider him if he's the best player available. Floyd has some tantalizing attributes and crazy good measurables, but there's some question as to how it will all shake out.

With Kenny Britt still not 100 percent, the Titans wouldn't be crazy to at least look at Floyd. He's not what they need, but it's hard to pass on value. I think if he's there, the Titans would find ample dance partners willing to trade up into the slot.

Q:

A: The Jags could well trade back as many as five to 10 slots and still land a great receiving prospect like Floyd, Kendall Wright or Stephen Hill. As for what they could get, if they traded back about eight spots, they should be able to land a second and a fourth. Any further than that, and they could possibly hold out for a future No. 1 and change. I think this is a great 'trade back' draft if you are looking for wideouts. There are several good ones in the 20 to 40 range.

Q:

A: I recently ranked the top units in the AFC South, and I did it with an eye on 2012, rather than 2011. The loss of Winston stings, but I still feel the title rests with the Texans. None of the lines in the South are dominant, and all have holes.

As for the loss of Mario Williams, I really don't think the Texans will feel it. They played better without him in 2011. So, yes, I stand by my rankings even with the departures. I'm more confident in the Texans defensive line than offensive line. I'm happy to hear arguments on that front.

Q:

A: Look, I get all jelly-kneed when it comes to Coby Fleener, but the Colts should not trade up for him. There are two reasons. First, Fleener is really more of a second-round talent. He shot up the boards thanks to a great workout. There are other talented tight ends that could be had in the third round. Second, the Colts have needs everywhere on the roster. There's no reason to extend for one player when they need about 10.

Trading up even a few spots for Fleener would cost a third-round pick. I think the Colts would rather have a second and a third than just Fleener.
