The tragic death of Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini must result in better medical screening, tests, physicals and research so that these types of events happen less in the future.
Italy's sports minister Piero Gnudi spoke about Morosini's death and what sports can learn going forward.

"It is always difficult to accept the death of a young man of only 25, especially during a context of enjoyment and sport.
The recent repetition of dramatic incidents like this must also force us to work on doing everything possible to guarantee accurate and frequent medical tests so that we may limit in every way the chance of this happening again.
"
Italian Players' Union President Damiano Tommasi would like to hold a meeting at some point to talk about players being tested and screened for heart problems that could affect them while playing sports:
"We had a meeting planned on Monday, which has been postponed, but we will now organise a get-together to discuss this tragedy and the problems tied to ensuring the safety of players.
If in professional divisions there are certain guarantees, tens of thousands of players in the amateur Leagues have very few scans.
"
The scary part about many heart issues is that there are few symptoms, sometimes none at all, which means one of the few ways to properly diagnose a problem is to be tested.
Each year in the United States, there are 50 to 100 sudden deaths in the middle, high school and college levels, according to a 2011 CNN report.
One way to lessen the amount of deaths in America from heart-related illnesses is to have kids go through better physicals.
Better physicals will ultimately cost more money. While some school districts across the country won't be able to afford that kind of cost, especially in today's challenging economy, there are other areas of spending that can be cut in order to have students undergo better physicals to properly diagnose possible heart issues.
There are better ways for the state governments to spend money on school sports, and one of them is to help students understand the importance of being screened for heart-related issues.
Diagnosing these issues before it's too late is the best way to ensure that heart-related illnesses don't end the life of a young person far too soon.
