Ozzie Guillen: Miami Marlins 5-Game Suspension Doesn't Fit Crime
Ozzie Guillen's praise, and any praise for that matter, of Fidel Castro was ridiculous and to add to the overkill that is this entire situation, the Miami Marlins will suspend their manager for five games.
Here is what Guillen said: "I respect Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that mother****** is still here."
While those comments are as dumb as most of the stuff Guillen says, it isn't exactly calling the Cuban dictator a good person. His respect of Castro is a result of the fact that the man is still alive and not how he treats his people.

And the fact that he used an expletive in his comment to refer to Castro isn't exactly respectful in itself.
So now the Marlins, in a knee-jerk, fan-saving reaction, will suspend Guillen five games for his comments.
This is not a suspension for bumping an empire or throwing the bases around the field, it's a suspension for something Guillen said.
An opinion, that as radical as it might be, the Marlins' skipper is still entitled to.
Unfortunately for the Marlins' manager, he works for a company and it is the right of that company to suspend him if they so chose.
If what he said was so wrong and unforgivable, I don't see how apologizing does any good since we all know Guillen believes this anyway. That's why he said it.
Miami should put their money where their mouth is and if they believe Guillen is so wrong for his comments, they should just fire him.
But if not and if money truly rules all, then this suspension makes no sense and never should have been implemented in the first place.
Besides, the public butt-whipping Guillen has received and will continue receive is punishment enough and could last the remainder of his career in Major League Baseball.
All that being said, let's just hope from this point forward that Guillen has learned his lesson and will never repeat this type of statement ever again. We'll see if that's enough to repair a very broken relationship with the Cuban-American fan base.
