Masters Scores 2012: Most Memorable Moments from Augusta
Bubba Watson knocked off Louis Oosthuizen in an exciting playoff to capture the 2012 Masters. There were some memorable moments along the way.
Of course the champion contributed to the highlight reel, but he wasn't alone. Not every moment was as triumphant and joyful as when Watson (pictured) donned his green jacket.
It was Watson's first major and he outplayed a star-studded field, including a game South African challenger in Oosthuizen.
In the end, one of the game's most popular players had his moment in the spotlight.
The following is a short list of the highs and lows of the last four days at Augusta National.
Tiger Just Kickin' It
1 of 5On Friday, Woods was struggling big time. He had just managed to make par on the 15th hole. On 16, Woods hit this wayward shot that took him to his boiling point.
Woods drops the club, then punts it about three feet behind him in frustration.
Honestly, these displays don't bother me as much as they do some fans. It's human, and it's what many of us do in frustration.
Is it the ideal behavior?
No, but it certainly isn't damnable.
Tiger's competitiveness makes him great. This is simply the other side of that trait.
Phil Fails for 4th Green Jacket on 4th Hole (Try Saying That Fast, 4 Times)
2 of 5The production value of this YouTube video is extraordinary. It captures the calamity that was the fourth hole for Mickelson on Sunday.
I knew it was bad when he had to take two of the shots right-handed.
On a more serious and practical note, this triple-bogey effectively cost Phil the event. He didn't bogey another hole the rest of the way.
If he simply pars this hole, and every thing stays as is with the other golfers, Mickelson wins the 2012 Masters by one shot.
Ooh Wee for Oosthuizen
3 of 5The shot of the tournament belonged to Louis Oosthuizen without a doubt. This double-eagle on the second hole to grab the lead was both amazing and clutch.
Oosthuizen played a solid and consistent event throughout, and it seemed like this would be his signature moment.
In the end, Bubba Watson had other ideas.
Still—you can't deny the awesomeness of this shot.
Bubba's Signature Shot
4 of 5Many Masters and major championship victories have a signature moment or shot. Watson's was on the 10th hole, in sudden death, buried in the trees.
Watson had to rearrange dirt by hand to get adequate footing before he blasted the shot out of the dreary lie.
He only needed to find the green in respectable fashion, as Louis Oosthuizen had already placed himself in a tough situation with his last shot.
He did that and then some.
The shot set him up for a relatively relaxed two-putt, and a green jacket.
Emotional Moment
5 of 5Watson taps in for the win, and immediately the emotion came out. Watson was embraced by several friends and family, including fellow Golf Boys member Rickie Fowler.
It's not everyday that you capture your first green jacket, and Watson's emotional reaction was understandable.
Watson lost his father in 2010, and he and his wife adopted a baby boy recently.
All would be proud of Watson's performance today.
