Tiger Woods: Bold Predictions for Rest of 2012 PGA Season

Jesse ReedJun 7, 2018

Tiger Woods took a few steps in the wrong direction at the 2012 Masters, but he is still one of the world's greatest golfers.

There is plenty of time for Woods to get back into rhythm and have a positive impact the rest of the way in this year's PGA season.

Here are three bold predictions you can take to the bank for what Tiger is going to accomplish in 2012.

Woods Will Win a Major Championship

Tiger is in the middle of the longest drought of his career in terms of time between major wins.

The last time he came through victorious was at the 2008 U.S. Open, when he outlasted Rocco Mediate at Torrey Pines.

Since then, Woods has gone through the ringer. First, he revealed that he had injured his knee. He went on to miss the rest of the 2009 season. Then, he became infamous for his numerous marital indiscretions and took an extended break from golf.

Woods made his return in 2010 at the Masters.

He has since struggled to return to form, though his recent victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational proves he's inching closer to the old Tiger we all knew and loved.

Give him a bit more time to work out the kinks in his swing, and I'm positive we'll see him hoist another major trophy up over his head.

My gut tells me he'll win the Open Championship at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club.

Woods Will Win Three More Tournaments

Despite his lousy showing at Augusta this week, Tiger is actually on his way up.

Woods was forced to withdraw from the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship in early March due to a sore Achilles tendon.

Besides that blemish, Woods has finished in the top 20 in each of his other appearances on the PGA tour this year, including one win and two other top-five showings.

Additionally, Woods was leading the tour in overall scoring before the Masters.

One of the problems he was having earlier on in the season was that his putter was letting him down after hitting terrific shots. Now, his putter is working and his shot is off.

Woods is going to pull it all together at some point during this season, and when he does, the rest of the players need to watch out.

Woods Will Win the PGA Comeback Player of the Year Award

This one is a given if Tiger manages to pull off the other two predictions I've scribed.

Woods hadn't won a single tournament before the Arnold Palmer Invitational in over two-and-a-half years.

There isn't another player on tour that will stand a chance at this award if Tiger returns to form during the course of the 2012 season.
