UFC on Fuel TV 2 Results: Alexander Gustafsson vs. Thiago Silva Fight Card

On Saturday, the UFC will hold its first event in Sweden, the home country of main event fighter Alexander Gustafsson. With wins in four consecutive fights, Gustafsson is looking to take another step toward the light heavyweight title with a win over Brazilian Thiago Silva.

After a failed drug test in January 2011, Silva has been out of action for more than one year. Against Gustafsson, Silva will have the chance to jump right back into the mix as a contender in the 205-pound division.

Once UFC on Fuel TV 2 is live from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, Bleacher Report will provide live results below and in-depth play-by-play on the following pages of this slideshow.

Gustafsson defeats Silva by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Brian Stann vs. Alessio Sakara

Stann defeats Sakara by knockout (punch) at 2:26 of the first round.

Bahadurzada defeated Thiago by knockout (punch) at 0:42 of the first round.

Alexander Gustafsson vs. Thiago Silva

Round 1

Alexander Gustafsson uses his reach and lands a jab as Thiago Silva rushes forward. The Swede rocks Silva with an uppercut. A cut Silva regains his feet, but he is covering up as Gustafsson presses forward.

With the crowd in a frenzy, Gustafsson attacks the legs of Silva with kicks. Silva finally answers with a leg kick of his own at the four-minute mark of the first round.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Gustafsson.


Round 2

The 25-year-old Gustafsson trips Silva to the ground, but the Swede decides to allow his opponent back to his feet. 

Gustafsson is doing an excellent job of using his reach advantage and landing kicks from the outside. However, Silva lands a counter right, which puts Gustafsson on his heels.

Nonetheless, Gustafsson circles back to the center of the cage and gets back to his game plan of landing kicks from distance. 

B/R scores the round 10-9 Gustafsson (20-18 Gustafsson).


Round 3

Silva lands a short left hook on the inside, but Gustafsson answers with an uppercut. The Brazilian is pressing forward more, but Gustafsson continues to circle and land kicks to the lead leg of Silva.

A stiff jab lands for Silva, though Gustafsson returns a knee to the head of his opponent. Silva walks Gustafsson down as the fight comes to an end.

With what should be a lopsided win, Gustafsson puts himself near the front of the line for a shot at the light heavyweight title.

Brian Stann vs. Alessio Sakara

Round 1

Brian Stann lands a leg kick to the outside of Alessio Sakara's lead leg, but Sakara answers with a combination of hooks. Both fighter unleash wild hooks.

Stann forces Sakara to cover up and lands a big knee. The U.S. Marine jumps into the guard of Sakara,who appears to have recovered now.

The power of Stann is on full display as a left hook from the full-guard of Sakara ends the fight via knockout. Stann's fourth win in five middleweight fights puts him back on track toward contending for the 185-pound title.

Stann defeats Sakara by knockout (punch) at 2:26 of the first round.

Paulo Thiago vs. Siyar Bahadurzada

Round 1

Entering the UFC on a six-fight winning streak, the 27-year old Siyar Bahadurzada made a huge statement in his Octagon debut by putting Paulo Thiago to sleep with a right hook as the Brazilian charged forward.

With the impressive finish, Bahadurzada handed Thiago his third loss in his past four appearances. However, the Afghan native is the only fighter to ever stop Thiago.

Bahadurzada defeated Thiago by knockout (punch) at 0:42 of the first round.

Dennis Siver vs. Diego Nunes

Round 1

Making his debut at featherweight, Dennis Siver traded leg kicks with Brazilian Diego Nunes in the opening moments of his fight. One minute into the fight a grazing head kick lands for Siver.

Siver tosses Nunes to the ground, but the Brazilian quickly regained his feet and began firing leg kicks. The former German kickboxer lands a number of body kicks and a counter left hook.

A body kick-left hook combination lands for Siver inside the final minute of the round. Nunes misses with a spinning heel kick and lands some knees in the clinch as the round comes to an end.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Siver.


Round 2

Nunes attempts three spinning kicks in the first minute of the round and a missed spinning backfist allows Siver to nearly secure a takedown. However, Nunes fights it off and works his way to his feet.

Siver slips a kick and returns a right hand. An inside leg kick scores for the German, who has a takedown attempt stuffed by Nunes.

Another leg kicks scores for Siver and Nunes narrowly evades a front kick. Siver blasts Nunes with a left hook that could seal the round for him on the scorecards.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Siver (20-18 Siver).


Round 3

Nunes clinches, but Siver rips punches to the body of his opponent and forces the Brazilian to separate. 

The fighters trade leg kicks around the three-minute mark of the final frame. One of these fighters needs to open up and take control of the fight.

Nunes lands a left hook as blood starts to trickle out of a cut over the left eye of Siver. Siver presses Nunes against the cage and knocks Nunes off balance with a right hook.

A close fight comes to the end. There have been some interesting scores by the judges tonight, so it will be interesting to see how a truly close fight will be scored here.

DaMarques Johnson vs. John Maguire

Round 1

DaMarques Johnson opens the fight with inside leg kicks, but John Maguire takes the fight to the ground with an early double-leg takedown. 

A scramble starts with an omoplata attempt by Johnson, but Maguire escapes and remains on top. Maguire moves to side control and lands a knee to the body of Johnson.

Maguire takes Johnson's back, but the Englishman is unable to make anything happen with only 30 seconds to work from the position.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Maguire.


Round 2

Maguire opens with an overhand right to the chin of Johnson. The British fighter secures a takedown, but Johnson quickly reverses position.

A triangle attempt is countered by a move to side control by Johnson, but Maguire escapes and makes his way to his feet.

Johnson lands two slapping leg kicks, but Maguire secures a takedown against the fence with two minute left in the round. Maguire lands a right hand and moves to half-guard. The former The Ultimate Fighter participant looks for a kimura, but Maguire counters with an armbar and forces his opponent to tap.

Maguire defeats Johnson by submission (armbar) at 4:40 of the second round.

Brad Pickett vs. Damacio Page

Round 1

Both fighters come out swinging and Brad Pickett catches a Damacio Page kick. The British fighter uses the caught kick to take the fight to the ground, but Page uses an armbar attempt to escape.

Page lands a knee and secures a takedown. Pickett escapes from side control and scores a takedown of his own. From the half-guard, Pickett lands a right hand.

The 29-year-old Page regains full-guard, but Pickett continues to work his ground-and-pound with under two minutes left in the round.

Page escapes , though, and lands a body kick. Another body kick lands for Page, but Picket uses a missed flying knee to take the fight back to the ground. Page escapes, but the Greg Jackson-trained fighter gets taken down again at the end of the round. 

B/R scores the round 10-9 Pickett.


Round 2

Pickett ducks a punch and slams Page with a double-leg. Page scrambles and works his way back to his feet, but he gets dropped by a left hook from his British opponent.

On the ground, Pickett controls the left wrist of Page and pounds away with right hands. Page fends off a guillotine choke attempt and lands in the top position with udner three minutes left in the stanza.

However, Pickett works his way back to his feet and lands a powerful uppercut-left hook combination to the chin of Page. Pickett takes Page's back and locks up a rear-naked for the victory.

Pickett defeats Page by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:05 of the second round.

Round 1

Papy Abedi lands a slapping inside leg kick to get things started. James Head clinches, but it is Abedi who scores the takedown. Abedi moves to half-guard, but Head escapes with slightly more than two minutes left in the round.

Abedi lands another inside leg kick, but Head answers with a straight right. Another straight right lands for Head. The American clinches and blasts Abedi with a series of right hands.

Head takes the fight to the ground and quickly takes Abedi's back. Abedi is forced to tap due to a rear-naked choke. In an unsportsmanlike showing, Head shoves Abedi and holds his hand to his ear as the Swedish fans rain boos toward the Octagon.

Head defeats Abedi by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:33 of the first round.

Cyrille Diabate vs. Tom DeBlass

Round 1

Undefeated UFC newcomer Tom DeBlass clinches and quickly looks to take Cyrille Diabate to the ground. After a struggle along the fence, DeBlass switches to a single leg and drag Diabate to the canvas.

DeBlass methodically moves to side control with one minute remaining in the round. Though he didn't inflict much damage, DeBlass continued to maintain the top position to the end of the round.

B/R scores the round 10-9 DeBlass.


Round 2

The UFC debutante secures another early takedown in the second round, but he moves to side control much more quickly this time. Diabate tries to stand, but DeBlass attacks with a guillotine choke attempt and returns to side control.

Diabate uses a single-leg to escape and ground DeBlass with a double-leg takedown against the cage. The Frenchman postures up and lands a right hand. However, DeBlass uses a leg lock attempt to regain the top position.

DeBlass moves to side control once again with one-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second frame. Again, Diabate stands by grabbing the leg of DeBlass and takes the fight to the ground with a double-leg takedown. Diabate postures up and does more damage from the top than DeBlass was able to do in the entire opening stanza.

Round 3

An exhausted DeBlass gets tagged with some straight punches from Diabate. Diabate times a knee to the body of DeBlass.

Diabate lands another straight right and defends a takedown attempt. From the half-guard, Diabate lands a left hand and drops some elbows with three minutes remaining in the fight.

Another leg lock attempt allows DeBlass to land on top and in side control. However, DeBlass sloppily loses the top position with one minute left in the fight. Diabate looks to salt away a decision victory with elbows to the body of his opponent.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Diabate (29-28 Diabate).

Francis Carmont vs. Magnus Cedenblad

Round 1

Fighting in his hometown, Sweden's Magnus Cedenblad eats a body kick from Georges St-Pierre training partner Francis Carmont. Carmont scores a takedown shortly after, but Cedenblad reverses positions and moves to the half-guard of Carmont.

The Swede gains full-mount and looks to sink in a rear-naked choke after Carmont gives up his back. After maintaining the position for an extended period, Cedenblad tries to soften Carmont with punches, but Carmont turns and winds up on top.

The French fighter moves to full mount near the ends of the round, but Cedenblad escapes and reverses his opponent once again as the round comes to an end.

Round 2

Carmont scores an early takedown and lands right hands while fighting off of an armbar. With St-Pierre yelling out instruction from his corner, Carmont moves to full mount and pounds away at the Swede. Cedenblad gives up his back and taps due to a rear-naked choke.

Carmont defeats Cedenblad by submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:42 of the second round.

Reza Madadi vs. Yoislandy Izquierdo

Round 1

Yoislandy Izquierdo scores with a kick to the body, but Reza Madadi takes the fight to the ground and immediately moves to side control.

Izquierdo escapes and lands a left hook before Madadi gets to his feet. The Swede backpedals and recovers, but Izquierdo lands a leg kick with three minutes remaining in the round.

Madadi is pushed backward and eats a knee before covering up. "Mad Dog" takes Izquierdo down in the closing seconds of the round, but the Swede isn't able to take advantage before the frame ends.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Izquierdo.


Round 2

After weathering an early storm of kicks, Madadi secures a double-leg takedown and moves to side control. Madadi looks for a guillotine choke and forces Izquierdo to tap once he moves to full mount.

Madadi defeats Izquierdo by submission (guillotine choke) at 1:28 of the second round.

Simeon Thoresen vs. Besam Yousef

Round 1

After coming out to a chorus of cheers from his compatriots, Besam Yousef lands hooks to the body of Norwegian Simeon Thoreson. A looping left hook also lands for the Swede.

Thoreson shoots in for a takedown, but the attempt is stuffed by Yousef. However, Thoreson ducks a left hook and takes Yousef to the ground with a single-leg.

Thoreson postures up and lands a straight right to the body of Yousef. The referee stands the fighters up with about one minute remaining in the round.

The Norwegian clinches, but Yousef is landing multiple uppercuts to the body of his opponent. The round ends with Thoreson answering with knees to the body.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Thoreson.


Round 2

Yousef lands another big left hook and stuffs a takedown attempt. The Swede lands a leg kick and begins pushing the pace.

A short punch sends Yousef to the canvas and Thoreson looks to take advantage with a rear-naked choke. The Norwegian transitions to a modified guillotine choke, then he sweeps Yousef to full mount. Yousef gives up his back and is forced to tap due to a second rear-naked choke attempt by Thoreson.

Thoreson defeats Yousef by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:36 of the second round. 

Jason Young vs. Eric Wisely

Round 1

Jason Young closes the UFC's long break with an inside leg kick. The Englishman lands a left hook and takes Eric Wisely's back after the American misses with a spinning back kick. However, Young is unable to drag Wisely to the ground and the fighters separate.

Young catches a leg kick and ends up in Wisely's full guard. The 25-year-old backs out of Wisely's guard and lands multiple kicks to the thighs of his downed opponent before the referee calls a break in the action for a stand-up.

Young scores another takedown inside the final minute of the opening round. Wisely eats a few elbows on the ground before the frame comes to an end.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Young.


Round 2

Wisely lands a straight left, but he is taken to the ground by Young once again before the one-minute mark of the second stanza. Previously known as a striker, Young's work at American Top Team appears to be paying dividends in this matchup.

After standing, Young jumps back into the guard of Wisely with an overhand right that lands. Young is doing a solid job of controlling Wisely on the ground in this round and lands a couple elbows with two minutes remaining in the round.

Young sweeps Wisely's lead leg out from under him with a leg kick. The Englishman follows his opponent to the ground and finishes the round on top again.

Round 3

Wisely lands a front kick to the face of Young and nearly takes his opponent's back. Young works his back to his feet and separates, though.

The American lands a left and knee from the clinch. Wisely is looking much more aggressive this round, but he takes a few leg kicks from Young.

Young catches another leg kick and puts Wisely on his back with three minutes remaining in the fight. Looking to end a two-fight losing streak, Young posture up and lands some big right hands.

The referee stands the fighters up with one minute remaining. Wisely lands a leg kick and avoids a spinning heel kick from Young. The fight ends with Wisely on his back after another poorly executed kick.
