USC Football Recruiting: With Browne on Board, Who Is Next for the Trojans?

Randy ChambersJun 1, 2018

Just in case you haven't heard the news yet, 5-star and top quarterback recruit Max Browne has picked the USC Trojans over several other top programs.

He looks like a fine prospect and is expected to continue the success of great quarterbacks at USC over the next few years.

But now that the Trojans have landed the quarterback, who will be next to take their talents to Southern California? You know it's only a matter of time before Lane Kiffin and company get another top player to play for their program.

We already talked about why Browne went to USC over schools like Alabama and others. We also brought up a few receivers with whom the Trojans could pair the 5-star recruit. Now it's time to look at some of the other recruits that could make their early commitment with USC real soon.

Here are a few players that may end up following in Browne's path and becoming a Trojan.

LB Michael Hutchings

Michael Hutchings is from Concord, Calif., so the Trojans already have the home field advantage for his services.

They could also use a physical linebacker like Hutchings, as he's known for his big hits, coverage skills and instincts on the football field. He's already checked out USC, and liked what he saw, but he still would like to know exactly where he would play before he picks the Trojans.

“I need to talk with USC more and see where they want me to play," Hutchings told Scout.com. "They always said linebacker before but they start three freshman ‘backers and have some good young depth there so I need to talk with them. I want to play as a true freshman if I can, I don’t have to start but I at least would like to play special teams or something, just to get on the field.”

He's also reportedly interested in California, Oregon and Miami, among others, but USC seems to be the early front-runner for the 5-star recruit.

WR Laquon Treadwell

Laquon Treadwell already has an offer from USC, and the Trojans are making things a little difficult for the other schools in the Midwest.

The 6'3", 190-pound physical receiver is reportedly very interested in Michigan and Oklahoma State, but you know when the Trojans are in the mix, they won't go down without a fight.

"It is going to be where I feel most comfortable at, and then if something happens then it happens. As for a decision I am just enjoying the process and taking it all in," Treadwell said, according to Scout.com.

A decision may not come soon with Treadwell, but you can expect a visit to be scheduled with one of the nation's top receivers at some point.

CB Johnny Johnson

3 of 5

Johnny Johnson is one of the top cornerbacks in this year's class. He's a smaller defensive back at 5'9", 165 pounds, but is excellent at jamming the receiver and plays the game with a ton of energy and emotion.

He's from Fresno, Calif. and was absolutely thrilled when he was told he had an offer on the table from one of the home schools. According to Scout.com:

"

USC is a great school with incredible tradition and I learned a lot about the academics and the support they offer as well. I didn’t realize what a prestigious school USC was academically but they have a great reputation and they can put you on a plan to graduate in three years so that was all new to me.

"

He also reportedly has offers on the table from Notre Dame, Stanford and California, among others.

S Max Redfield

4 of 5

Don't expect a decision to be made anytime soon when it comes to Max Redfield, but expect the Trojans to land him when it's all said and done.

The 4-star recruit out of Mission Viejo, Calif. reportedly has the Trojans, Oregon and Notre Dame in his top three, but he says there are many reasons to pick USC, according to Scout.com.

“I’ve made connections with USC for a while. They’ve been recruiting me heavily since my sophomore year. I’ve been to a lot of games and I have teammates that go there," Redfield said.

Redfield is an athlete who can play either side of the ball and even played basketball as well. He's a strong player with great ball skills.

Considering that USC has been on his tail for the last couple of years already, I assume it can wait just a little bit longer for a decision.

RB Ty Isaac

5 of 5

Ty Isaac is considered by many to be the top running back in this year's class, and although he is from Illinois, he is extremely interested in heading to the West Coast and becoming a Trojan.

He's already checked the school out and watched the team practice during the spring, and he reportedly likes what he saw during his visit.

"Everything was good. Everything but the weather," Isaac's father told Scout.com. "You know, it was 80 degrees at home and we left it and went out to 50s and 60s. As far as the visit went, everything went well. One interesting thing was, we got to see practice, they had a spring practice, so you got to see the coaches in what I call their element."

Isaac is a speedster with great size at 6'2", 220 pounds and can even catch the ball well out of the backfield.

He reportedly has offers on the table from schools like Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma, among others, but with USC's lack of depth at running back, I wouldn't be surprised if he became a Trojan sooner than later.
