Masters 2012: Last-Minute Prediction and Odds for Tiger Woods and More Favorites
The 2012 Masters are merely a few minutes away from beginning, meaning that gamblers have just a small amount of time left to place their final wagers on who will win this tournament.
Let’s take a look at the latest and most updated odds from Vegas bookmakers (courtesy of Bovada.lv) and their chances of actually winning this thing.
Tiger Woods – 9/2
Woods is hot off a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which has usually translated to success in majors that year.
Each time Tiger has won at Bay Hill—with the exceptions of 2003 and 2009—he has won a major tournament.
This makes him a clear favorite in this tournament and no one dominates Augusta quite like Woods can.
Rory McIlroy – 6/1
McIlroy is the No. 2 golfer in the world and it just makes sense that he’s got the second-best odds to claim a Green Jacket in 2012.
However, he would already have one if it were not for the epic collapse in the final round of last year’s event.
If McIlroy can gain an early lead, it will be interesting to see if he can avoid imploding.
Phil Mickelson – 12/1
Lefty is a three-time winner at Augusta National and his advancing age (41 years old) will not be a factor in this tournament.
He won against a solid field just two years ago in 2010 and he’s still as big a threat to capture his fourth Green Jacket as any of the other favorites.
Luke Donald – 14/1
Donald may be a great and consistent golfer, but he’s never won a major and probably never will. He’s simply not wired that way and struggles to dominate the biggest tournaments.
Lee Westwood – 18/1
At 38 years old, Westwood does not have much time left to win a major in his career. He’s a great player, but it’s looking unlikely he’ll be able to steal a Masters victory from one of the other favorites.
