Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Underrated Sleepers Nobody Knows About

Jesse ReedJun 7, 2018

The key to dominating your fantasy baseball league is to find underrated sleepers nobody else knows about until it's too late.

It's imperative to scour the waiver wire to find these hidden gems.

Here are three such players you need to make sure you sign up for before they are no longer on the waiver wire.

Carl Crawford

Crawford isn't even playing yet as he recovers from a wrist injury that required arthroscopic surgery.

According to the Boston Herald, Bobby Valentine is hoping to have Crawford available to play after he spends approximately 15 games in the minors to tune up and make sure he's fully healthy.

Crawford had a tough year for the Red Sox in 2011, as well, making most people forget about him altogether for this year's fantasy team.

I predict Crawford will bounce back nicely from his setbacks to have a tremendously successful season in 2012.

He should get close to hitting .300 this year, and I would expect him to also get back into form for another 40-plus steal season.

If that's the case, then Crawford himself will be the biggest steal you've ever had if you pick him up now off of the waiver wire for your fantasy team.

Casper Wells

Wells should see plenty of playing time up in the Northwest for the Seattle Mariners.

They don't have a lot of depth or talent in their outfield, and Wells will get his chance to prove he's capable of making an impact on an MLB roster.

Wells is an excellent defender, which is the main reason he's going to earn the playing time in the first place.

He is also a decent power hitter—Baseball Cube has his power rated at a 91—and if he learns to be more patient at the plate his average should start to climb as well.

He's going to end up being a hot commodity once his bat starts heating up in the confines of Safeco Field.

You shouldn't wait until then. Snag him up now while he's still cheap.

Josh Reddick

The Oakland A's are notorious for harboring sleepers nobody knows about until they are tearing up the league.

Reddick may never end up as one of the best players in the league, but he will certainly get plenty of opportunities to make a name for himself this year playing right field for the A's.

He showed he could be a decent contributor for the Red Sox last year in the second half of the season, collecting 74 hits on 254 at-bats, including seven home runs.

One thing that makes Reddick a solid option as a waiver-wire pickup is that he isn't prone to strikeouts.

He will keep toiling away and getting better as the season progresses.

Do yourself a favor and pick him up now while he's still an unknown.
