Latest Premier League Transfer News
Chelsea are the side that are dominating the gossip columns today, and it isn't all about a certain Spanish striker.
A number of in's and out's are being touted at the Stamford Bridge, with a raid by a host of former managers to be carried out if you buy in to such talk.
Not to be out done though, Manchester City are linked with yet another blockbuster transfer that would no doubt irk their neighbours somewhat.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side could also be thwarted by moneybags Malaga to one of their targets, while the Tottenham Hotspur managerial debate makes another appearance.
Cristiano Ronaldo
1 of 7As Real Madrid edge closer to clinching the La Liga title, could heads be turned by Goal.com's report that Manchester City are looking to lure Cristiano Ronaldo?
It's rumoured the club would be willing to match the £80m fee paid to Manchester United three years ago, and offer wages in the region of £400,000-£500,000 per week.
According to "sources" in both Manchester and Spain, contact has been made to gauge interest, and it seems the green light has been given:
"The signs now from the Ronaldo camp are surprisingly more positive," said the source. The contact has taken place in the last few weeks and there is serious chatter in the corridors at the Etihad, akin to when City tried to sign Kaka from AC Milan a few years back.
"
Reality or fantasy?
Edinson Cavani
2 of 7A huge scramble is expected to take place amongst Europe's elite this summer for Napoli hit man Edinson Cavani.
It seems every club who could feasibly afford him, and some who couldn't have been linked, with both Manchester City and Chelsea two of the mainstays.
However, Talksport are now reporting that Juventus have entered the race for the man the club president said it would cost £80m, seemingly a popular figure today, to prize him away from the Stadio San Paulo.
That is a hugely inflated fee, but what's a realistic fee for the 25 year old? And who will win the race for his signature?
Should he leave Naples at all, that is.
Fernando Torres
3 of 7Over recent weeks, it has looked as though Fernando Torres has been getting back to form approaching his best, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from churning, though.
The Daily Star are reporting today that Roma are in the frame to sign the Spaniard, with agent Antonio Sanz saying:
"We know the new American project at Roma and the philosophy of manager Luis Enrique. But if Roma want Fernando, they will have to talk with Chelsea. The Italian championship is of a good standard, but there are no discussions with Roma or Juventus.
"
Meanwhile in Russia, The Daily Mirror are suggesting former blues boss Guus Hiddink, now at Anzhi Makhachkala, is also keeping tabs on Torres.
With initial approaches about a £35m bid knocked back, the team believe a failure to get in the Champions League and a further £10m on top of the fee could persuade Roman Abramovich to do business.
Ashley Cole and Raul Meireles
4 of 7Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to take Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole across the Atlantic, according to The Daily Mirror.
A bid of £12 is being touted, as the ex-Stamford Bridge boss looks to bring in some key experience ahead of his sides Champions League campaign next season.
The same paper also suggests Raul Meireles could be another on the exit list.
They report that Jose Mourinho could be keen to take the midfielder to Real Madrid for around £10m.
Angel Di Maria
5 of 7Argentine winger Angel Di Maria is reportedly upset with his current rate of pay, and will threaten to leave Real Madrid if parity with some of his teammates is not offered.
The Sun suggests Di Maria is asking for £80,000 a week—double what he currently earns—and has baulked at the last offer of £70,000.
This has put Roman Abramovich on alert, with the Russian keen to take Di Maria to Stamford Bridge for a fee reported to be in the region of £35m.
Christian Eriksen
6 of 7Another player who will spark a scramble when he becomes available is Ajax's newest prodigy Christian Eriksen.
Manchester United have been long term admirers of the 20-year-old Danish international, but could now face competition from Malaga for his signature, says Inside Futbol.
Champions League football is key to any potential move, and with that looking like a distinct possibility, Manuel Pellegrini is confident of trumping his rivals.
Brendan Rodgers
7 of 7We end with potential managerial maneuvers, with Tottenham Hotspur keen on current Swansea City gaffer Brendan Rodgers if Harry Redknapp takes the vacant England hot seat.
The Daily Express report that their is a growing feeling Redknapp could be on his way, despite promises of a new contract and huge war chest this summer.
Swansea have made a huge impression of the Premier League this season with Rodgers, who only signed a new contract last month, guiding the team to the top half of the table.
He was previously linked with the Chelsea job that was made vacant by Andre Villas-Boas.
