WWE Hall of Fame: Why WWE Needs to Rethink Its Selection Process
The WWE begs to be taken seriously in the entertainment and sports world, but continue to treat the WWE Hall of Fame like a joke.
No offense to those that have rightfully been inducted in over the years. Countless great WWE superstars have graced the stage to accept the award and were as deserving of it in wrestling as Michael Jordan was in the basketball Hall of Fame.
Still, far too often the WWE has treated their induction as a way to pull in TV ratings and add marquee names to the bill rather than worry about getting it right. McMahon has allowed personal politics interfere with his better judgement.

It’s the reason Randy Savage, one of the all-time greats in this business, or any other, is still without induction, meanwhile Drew Carey is a proud member of this club.
This year's class features the deserving Edge and the more deserving Four Horsemen, but something feels off. Why have the Four Horsemen waited decades to be inducted while Edge goes in less than a year after his retirement?
Why is Yokozuna on the bill then?
Yokozuna was a fine wrestlers and certainly made an impact during his stay with WWE, but if this is about honoring wrestling's best, and their all-time best, sadly Yokozuna doesn’t fit the bill.
You can pretend that he does, but it’s just wishful thinking. He belongs in the hall of very good.
The WWE, in a world where they took the Hall of Fame seriously, would have a rule about years of service or after retirement from WWE. With a business so flux with returns and wrestling in other promotions, they would be best served thinking about induction 25 years after a wrestler's professional debut, regardless of their current status.
At the end of the day, it’s nice to see Jim Ross or Stone Cold Steve Austin get inducted, but to the fan who knows what certain guys have meant to the business, it’s a little hollow to see them share the stage with those that don’t deserve it.
If the WWE really cared about the integrity of what they were doing, the Hall of Fame selection process would be done right.
