The Rock Reveals Dark Past That Shaped Most Electrifying Man in WWE History
The Rock has built himself into an international entertainment powerhouse. Whether he's serving as a WWE superstar, like he will at WrestleMania against John Cena, or starring in movies, the name Dwayne Johnson has become synonymous with success.
None of it would have been possible without a dark moment in Johnson's life that fueled him to become the most electrifying man in WWE history. His professional wrestling success also opened up many other doors, all of which he has burst through with the same level of bravado.
TMZ has a video of Rocky talking about the eviction notice his family received when he was 14. It was also featured on the special documentary Once in a Lifetime, which illustrated the different paths The Rock and Cena have taken to reach this point.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
From that day forward, Rocky worked tirelessly to become a star. He earned a scholarship to play football for the Miami Hurricanes before eventually following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, who were both wrestlers.
When given a chance to shine, he took full advantage. Excelling in any role he was asked to play, he developed his promo skills and became one of the best mic workers in company history. Few people will ever match the crowd reaction he gets to this day.
It was all possible because of the wake-up call he received as a teenager. He wanted to make sure his mother could live peacefully without the fear of more eviction notices, and 25 years later, it's safe to call that mission a success.
One thing that's never been questioned is his worth ethic. Those who follow him on Twitter—and there are over 2.3 million who do—know he's regularly up early to work out and loves to send along inspirational messages to his followers.
""They sleep, we grind. They dream, we shine" #GoodMorning
— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) March 20, 2012"
He made himself the captain of Team Bring It and maintains that the fans, not money or added exposure, is the only reason he agreed to face Cena. He likes serving as a motivation to others, regularly replying to those down on their luck on Twitter, because he's been to the bottom.
If nothing else, his story should serve as an inspirational tool. He's proven time and again that hard work will yield far better results than sitting back and hoping for the best. In other words, The Rock's current status isn't a fluke—he earned it.
So, when his music hits on Sunday night and the crowd erupts, most people will be thinking about his chances of beating Cena. But Rocky will be looking back on how far he's come since that nightmarish day a quarter-century ago.
At his core, that's exactly what The Rock is cookin'.
