Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
WWE Stock Watch: Ranking 10 Superstars Who Are Moving Up or Down (March 28)
Going into WrestleMania 28, every WWE superstar wants to build up some momentum that will catapult them to a great performance on the grandest stage of them all.
While exactly that is happening for some, that unfortunately isn't the case for others.
For every guy that's moving up the WWE ladder as we near WrestleMania, there is another guy that's moving down just as quickly.
So who is heading in the right direction? And who's doing the opposite?
Here is this week's WWE Stock Watch: a look at five superstars who are rising and five who are falling.
Note: This Stock Watch is based on last Friday's Smackdown and this Monday's Raw.
5. Stock Up: Drew McIntyre
1 of 10It's really hard to have your stock move up without wrestling a match on either Raw or Smackdown, but Drew McIntyre managed to do just that this week.
Although McIntyre didn't appear on Smackdown whatsoever and only had a brief appearance in a brawl on Raw, he was added to Team Laurinaitis for the GM vs. GM match at WrestleMania 28.
I had been wondering why McIntyre wasn't in this bout in the first place, and due to Christian's injury, he got the spot I feel like he so rightfully deserves.
Not bad for a guy who did, well, basically nothing on the last two TV shows.
5. Stock Down: The Miz
2 of 10Any which way you slice it, it was another bad week for The Miz.
Sure, he was added to Team Laurinaitis on Monday's Raw. But as he himself has pointed out, that's a huge drop-off from last year's WrestleMania, where he successfully defended his WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event.
Plus, The Miz lost yet another match to Sheamus on last week's Smackdown, eating a nasty Brogue kick in the show's tag team main event and extending losing his streak to well into the double digits.
I don't doubt that this could be leading somewhere big for The Miz (a face turn at Mania maybe?), but for now, his stock will continue to drop until his losing streak has some sort of major payoff or, you know, actually ends.
4. Stock Up: Brodus Clay
3 of 10Woah, woah, woah—I can't believe it. Brodus Clay actually appeared on two straight episodes of WWE TV.
Though "The Funaksaurus" has had a rough time getting a permanent spot on either Raw or Smackdown, he actually appeared on the most recent episodes of both shows and picked up two easy victories in the process.
Clay squashed Heath Slater on Smackdown and then did the same to Curt Hawkins on Raw, possibly signifying that he's here to stay. Finally.
While it's unclear where, if anywhere, he will fit onto the WrestleMania card, at least he's getting on TV and still being pushed as an unstoppable, yet comedic baby face.
Now all this guy needs is a post-WrestleMania feud, and we're in business.
4. Stock Down: Sheamus
4 of 10Sheamus picked up a really big win in the main event on Smackdown after destroying The Miz with the Brogue Kick, but he lost a lot of momentum on Monday's Raw.
He and Randy Orton teamed up to face Daniel Bryan and Kane in the show's opening match, and for the first time in awhile, Sheamus found himself getting pinned after Kane hit him with a chokeslam.
Kane's chokeslam looked pretty weak, and even though it happened behind the referee's back, Sheamus still took a loss (with just one finisher, nonetheless) just six days before his World Heavyweight Championship match against Bryan.
Perhaps this will make it a better story if Sheamus beats Bryan at WrestleMania, but for now, Sheamus' stock takes a bit of a dip.
3. Stock Up: Mark Henry
5 of 10I'm sure Mark Henry isn't happy about being stuck in the Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny match at WrestleMania, but after seeing his stock take a dramatic plunge over the last few months, the WWE seems to be building him back up as one of the company's top heels.
On Friday's Smackdown, Henry dominated R-Truth and beat him in a three-minute squash match, and on Monday's Raw, he followed that up with another easy squash victory over The Great Khali that saw him hit Khali with an incredibly impressive World's Strongest Slam.
Although Henry isn't exactly main eventing like he was for most of last year, he's slowly but surely creeping back up the card and should be a force to be reckoned with after WrestleMania.
3. Stock Down: Dolph Ziggler
6 of 10Ever since Elimination Chamber (and probably even going all the way back to the Royal Rumble), Dolph Ziggler has had as big a drop down the card as anyone in WWE.
That continued last Friday when Ziggler lost to The Great Khali via count out and then was thrown into the ring by Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella to take a massive chop from the man who just beat him, Khali.
Things didn't get much better on Monday's Raw, where Ziggler failed to have a match and found himself as almost a complete afterthought in the feud between Team Johnny and Team Teddy.
Although Ziggler continues to be a workhorse for WWE (did you see his amazing bumping for Khali?), he also continues to be booked like just another guy when he should be main eventing.
What an unbelievable waste of talent.
2. Stock Up: Cody Rhodes
7 of 10Cody Rhodes didn't wrestle on Smackdown or Raw, but he didn't have to in order to make an impact.
On Friday night, we saw him interfere in Big Show's match against Kane, cost him a legitimate victory and then escape through the crowd unscathed, and then on Monday night, he cut an excellent promo in which he once again rippled Show for his struggles at WrestleMania.
Rhodes has built up a ton of momentum over the last several weeks, and it was never more evident than it was over the last few episodes of WWE TV.
Without even getting competing in matches, he's generated a lot more interest in his feud with Big Show strictly because of his great mannerisms and promos.
His stock is climbing, and it should lead him to a big victory at WrestleMania.
2. Stock Down: Epico and Primo
8 of 10We didn't see Epico and Primo at all on Friday's Smackdown, but after the horrendous way they were treated on Monday's Raw, I'm kind of glad we didn't.
For some godforsaken reason, the WWE decided to use Primo to job to The Big Show in less than a minute on this week's Raw, which was borderline absurd.
Why not use someone who, you know, isn't one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions? I mean, couldn't you use one of the company's 20 lower card workers to job to Show?
Gosh. The booking of Primo and Epico on Raw infuriated me, and now, the tag team division somehow means even less than it did just last week.
Congratulations, WWE. You squashed a guy who is supposed to be the best tag team wrestler in the entire company.
1. Stock Up: CM Punk
9 of 10CM Punk is the WWE Champion, and he's damn sure looked like it recently.
He and Sheamus picked up a big victory over The Miz and Daniel Bryan in the main event of Smackdown, and then Punk followed that up by beating the living crap out of Christian, causing him to be removed from his WrestleMania match in the process.
Not only did Punk get a win to help build up some momentum just nine days before WrestleMania, but he was able to take out his frustrations and make a big statement with his beatdown of Christian on Raw as well.
Suddenly, Punk is looking really good heading into Mania after weeks of frustration during his feud with Chris Jericho resulted in him going absolutely crazy this Monday.
1. Stock Down: Christian
10 of 10Well, I'd definitely say that Christian had a pretty terrible week.
He was scheduled to make his long awaited in-ring return this Monday, but before this match could happen, he was the victim of a brutal attack by CM Punk that left him lying broken and battered outside of the ring.
As if that wasn't bad enough, Punk's attack resulted in Christian being removed from Team Laurinaitis, and thus, being taken off of WrestleMania altogether.
This now marks the second straight year in which Christian does not have a match on the WrestleMania card, and that's a really tough break for Captain Charisma.
Even though being on Team Laurinaitis was not exactly a WrestleMania dream match, it's a lot better than watching the pay-per-view from backstage.
